You might remember a month or so ago, I mentioned that we had installed Lutron sensor switches throughout our house. After living with them for a little while, I wanted to give you all a quick update.
They do work as promised, automatically turning the lights on when we walk into the room, and going off after a set amount of time for the spaces where we enabled the timer. For us, the places where they’ve worked best are the laundry room and the kids’ closets—the areas where lights always seemed to stay on non-stop before.
A couple of funny things. . . I have had to get used to the laundry room light automatically shutting off, especially when I’ve been up by myself in the kitchen at night. And, there have been a couple of times when I’ve been in the hallway right outside the laundry room, bent over to pick something up and my “rear end” has protruded past the laundry doorway, making the light come on. That makes me feel a little self-conscious :) I’ve also caught myself walking into other rooms where the sensors aren’t installed and waiting for the lights to come on by themselves. Does that say spoiled or what?
