I’ve always liked the idea of using piece of furniture for bathroom storage that isn’t necessarily intended for bathroom storage:
For our new upstairs bathroom, I originally had my heart set on an open vanity. But, we ended up probably making the smarter decision and going for one with some closed storage. (It’s almost finished. I’ll be sharing pictures with you in a couple of weeks.)
There’s also a small wall (with an angled ceiling) beside the toilet that we left blank instead of opting for built-in cabinets. So, I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect piece to fit there. I knew I wanted something open with an industrial feel like this:
I also knew I didn’t want to put a lot of money into a little bathroom corner that few people will ever see (well, except for the entire Internet when I post it. . . ). And, industrial shelving options aren’t necessarily cheap.
I even considered buying two of these galvanized shelving units from IKEA and adding some wood trim, but wasn’t sure if they would really be sturdy enough. (Either way, they’re just $15. I’ve never noticed them before. . .)
But, yesterday, I found this console table here, and the dimensions were almost exact for the wall:
I ended up having enough Joss & Main referral credit to almost cover the whole cost—which is already a pretty great price right now. (By the way, you can earn referral credit, too, if you’re not already taking advantage of it. They give you $15 for every one who signs up through your personal link and makes a purchase. I’ve been able to order several things for free by waiting and saving my credits. It’s a pretty good deal.)
I can’t wait for it to get here so I can fill it with baskets and pretties that my 8-year-old son (the primary user for this bathroom) will care absolutely nothing about. . .
