Renovation Updates At Our House

I’ve been putting a few updates on Instagram (@emilyaclark if you want to follow), but I made some new pictures this morning of the progress around here, in case you’re curious.

This is new view from the kitchen:

They extended the hallway to convert the third garage into a den. (You can read the initial post about our plans here.)

I’m excited about doing something fun (although not sure what yet) to this new little “entry” area that we use all of the time:

(The current color of our door be found here.  Do I dare say it’ll probably be changing again?)

View from inside the new den, looking at the “entry”.  I’m having all kinds of thoughts about this wall we’ll be looking at a lot:

View standing in the entry looking into the den.  (My kids don’t yet know this isn’t actually an inside basketball court, but they’re having a great time with the open space for now.)

I was curious about how seamless closing in the garage door would look from the exterior.  Here’s the before:

And, after:

(The surround matches the other windows on our house.  I’m planning on eventually adding some “portable” landscaping in front of the window.  Again, I have some ideas. . .)

And,  a quick look at the still disheveled upstairs bonus room that will become the bedroom for the boys.  The closets are now built out on each side of the new bathroom:

The boys’ bath is still a work in progress:

And, this little window nook upstairs will hopefully become a desk/work area in their bedroom.  Right now, it’s toy storage until we start moving everything (and everybody) around.  Yikes!

Clearly, I have some work ahead. . .

PS—Congrats to the winner of the Charles Emerson Designs giveaway!  Go here to see if it’s your lucky day :)

  14. Emily, It looks so seamless and like it's been that way all along. You seem to have so much new wall space! I love that, and the window is beautiful. What a fantastic addition and your family is going to love it. Did it seem to happen in a month? To me it did--how long did this take start to finish? What great contractors you have.
