I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’m in a sad slump after yesterday’s news. We spent last night hanging out here, grateful to be doing normal things and watching a movie with the kids, trying to avoid letting them see the news coverage. I know you can’t keep them in a bubble, but the last thing I want to do is fill their little minds with worry. . .
Although none of these things seem as important as they did earlier this week, I do have a few blog-related items to share with you. Hopefully, they’ll be a happy diversion for you this weekend.
Have you all heard of Homesessive yet? It’s AOL’s new site devoted to all things home and DIY. I’m one of several bloggers who are “curators” for the site. That’s basically a fancy way of saying you’ll see my blog content featured on their site from time to time, and I’ll occasionally be writing posts specifically for Homsessive. There’s lots of ever-changing photos and tips if you have time to stop by.
Earlier this week, I was a guest on the 320 Sycamore blog where I shared a list of my favorite things. Although it didn’t officially make the list, being able to sit down and mindlessly look through Pinterest while drinking my coffee makes me very, very happy. See some of my other favorites here.
I’m sure you’re all long done with your Christmas decorating, right? Right?? Well, just in case, my latest ideabook for Houzz is up and includes 20 great wreaths, some of which are still available for Christmas delivery (and could work well into January…).

Giveaway winner to announce! Congrats to Andrea who wins the $50 store credit to Lulu & Georgia. Have fun shopping!
And, finally, I’ll leave you with the outtakes of our photos before we went to see Santa this week. Is it just me or does there seem to be a common theme anytime we try for a group picture?
In her defense, I’d probably cry, too, if they took my baby away. It was all smiles until we decided to rotate babies:
Enjoy the weekend,

LOVE your posts!! Love seeing your sweet babies!! Giving extra hugs to mine today too!
ReplyDeleteBeing a "middle" child must be very difficult! Thanks for sharing your beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteSo precious! I think we are all hugging our kids a little tighter today. I am going to try my best to shield my kids from the news.

We are trying to figure out how to handle it. I don't want to even talk to them about it, but I'm afraid they'll end up hearing anyway at church tomorrow or from a friend at school.... It's a hard call.
DeleteYour kids are so beautiful! Love seeing pictures of them on FB and your blog!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Emily! I really love your blog and enjoy reading!
ReplyDeleteAnother dramatic little girl! Just gotta luv em! All precious pictures, beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those family portraits. Can't help but smile when I see them. xo
ReplyDeleteWe have a 75% rule with our kiddos for pictures. If 3 of the 4 look good, we go with it! We have some hilarious outtakes.
ReplyDeleteawe!!! cute pictures! Thanks for the introduction to Homesessive. And yes, coffee and brainless internet perusing is my seldom achieved guilty pleasure, too! Merry Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteToo funny. I wish you could see my Christmas card photo outtakes from last year. I dread it every year. You finally got a good one, though. It could be worse. Congrats on the new 'job'. Merry Christmas, if I don't make it back over.
ReplyDeleteLove the pics of your babies...I think we are all hugging ours a little tighter today. Especially tickled by the expression on your youngest son...it is so precious and never changes even with all the drama happening around him! And congrats on all of your ventures...you are one BUSY mommy!
ReplyDeleteOh my, she has fabulous dramatic flair! LOVE IT! Such a nice, fun, funny way to end your post after sadness this weekend.
ReplyDeleteDramatic flair. That's one way to put it :)
DeleteHa Ha...that was funny :) She is all smiles now!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures!! :) One of my friends on fb shared an article about talking to your kids. (http://www.parenting.com/article/5-tips-on-talking-to-kids-about-scary-news?src=facebook) Mine's not old enough to know what's going on and I'm not telling her.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! I love that she's all smiles once she got "her baby" back. I told my 10 and 6 year old last night what happened and I think they took it better than me. I'm not quite sure they could process it all at once so that probably had something to do with it.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the photos of your beautiful children. I can't believe how fast the babies are growing. Enjoy them. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHa! Before I saw the last photo, I was thinking that she didn't have a baby to hold!!
ReplyDeletelove it :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you better have one more, so that everyone gets a baby to hold. LOL!!!
ReplyDeletelove the pictures, You should have had triplets!
ReplyDeleteI've also shielded my cildren from the news....but decided to let them hear it from me. I also work at my kids elementary so I find it extra hard and emotional thinking of how beautifully the teachers and staff handled that day!!
ReplyDeleteI have explained to my kids that a man was not mentally right and (not in detail) explained things. I assured them they are safe and evil can be anywhere. To be kind and respectful to ALL....and to pray for the schoolchildren and families in Conn. I'm sure Monday at work we will have staff meetings first thing to learn how to handle kids' questions and fears! :(
