Our Christmas mantel is so simple this year that I thought about not even blogging about it. But, sometimes, simple is good. And easy. Which is also good.
(Our kids insist on getting a live tree, too. It’ll go in the corner by the window where the chair is now. You can see a glimpse in the mirror of the artificial one that’s in the office.)
We have an outlet on our mantel so I wanted to use some lighted garland this year. I just used the fake stuff. I don’t mind it if you mix it with some other things. I used oversized pinecones that I found on a walk through the woods. Well, not really. I actually found them in a clearance bin at Pottery Barn last summer for less than a dollar each, but the walk in the woods sounds so much better. . . I also mixed in some big plastic snowflakes that I bought at the Dollar Tree a couple of years ago. (Wish I had bought more.)
One reason I’m keeping our mantel so simple is that it’s getting a little makeover in the next week or so. Tomorrow, I’ll post about what the UPS man is bringing to my house soon. . .

I love simple. And I am super jealous that you have an outlet on your mantel. Genius.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Our Dollar Tree has those large snowflakes...I almost bought a bunch a few weeks ago. You may want to check your store again! The mantle is so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lauren. I need to go back. They would be great hanging in front of a window...

Simple is great AND gorgeous. I'm really glad you shared! We have a plug on our mantel and I feel so lucky. Too bad I don't actually like our mantel! ;-)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see whatever is coming with the UPS man. I predict a new mirror or picture!

Love!! Where did you purchase your couch?? Looking into biting the bullet and getting a new one.
ReplyDeleteIt was a Craigslist find, but the tag says Alexvale (a subsidiary of La-Z-Boy).
DeleteThis is so pretty and inviting. May I ask what paint color you used in this room? It is such a great neutral, but has some character. Thank you! Merry Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteSure, we used Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray.

I love it! And, I appreciate that even as a designer, you still purchase things from the Dollar store, keep it simple, and do it all so beautifully! Thank you for constantly inspiring me!
