I recently borrowed one of these hollowed pieces of driftwood and this idea from my friend who’s a local floral designer and made a simple little centerpiece by stuffing it with succulents:
I mixed live succulents with some fake ones from Hobby Lobby. Can you tell the difference? (Me neither—I think I’m going back to Hobby Lobby for more.)
More pretty examples I found online using this same combination:

This is giving me a good idea for the shelter! I need some greenery. Lord knows they would kill anything living.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of fake foliage ... but you have thrown me a curve ball! These look terrific! xo
ReplyDeleteThe fake ones look so much like the real thing! I bought one at Michaels over the weekend - "planting" it in a couple days ;) Love the combo with the driftwood!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Emily! I love succulents and driftwood feels like home to me:)
ReplyDeleteso cute and simple! love it!
ReplyDeleteTurned out great - it's rare when the fake is better than the real thing, but no watering? Count me in.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and I'm wondering where you will be displaying them.
ReplyDeleteI love succulents. I bought a few live ones from Home Depot, but I think may purchase a few artificial succulents as I was cursed with a black thumb... Lol

I just saw those at HL this weekend and took a pic of them to spread the word...I couldn't believe how real they looked either! Such a cool arrangement that you put together!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great tip to mix real with fake. I just planted some succulents indoors but they don't look nearly as cute as that. I think I need to go to the beach and get some driftwood!
ReplyDeleteLove this, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love succulents and have a vintage planter on my breakfast table filled with them, but I sometimes forget to water them-- oops! The fakes look great, you just gave me a wonderful idea on how to use them too!!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Now all I need to do is find some drift wood in Colorado somewhere..lol brooke

Oh driftwood! I love it anyways---and adding succulents to it? I'm sold. It looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteSimple and elegant, love it! I recently purchased some faux succulents at our local grocery store. The fakes have come along way and they look adorable in my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI recently bought three succulents from Lowe's. only one survived so far :-(. I tend to overwater! Ugh.
ReplyDeleteYou are incredibly talented!
It's gorgeous! The Hobby Lobby succulents are fantastic - I bought several last week and thing they look much more real than ones I saw elsewhere for triple the price!
ReplyDeleteMy mom loves these because basically you can't kill them since they don't require much watering! But I am a new follower and can't wait to read more :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis looks lovely! I'm not usually a fan of fake plants, but I have to say that yours looks pretty convincing. I just wrote about trying out some new indoor plants today (and trying to rid myself of my black thumb).
