I can’t resist putting a little green in every room. I can, however, resist watering my plants, which (surprise!) leads to their sad death every time. Maybe that’s why I’d been contemplating buying some preserved boxwood for our breakfast room for a while.
I ordered three from Joss & Main a couple of months ago, thinking an odd number would work well on our long table.
See the tag? These were made for me (and my non-green thumbs):
Since they’re short, these small topiaries make the perfect centerpiece. (I usually don’t even move them off the table during meal time.)
Don’t mind the balloons. Our birthday celebrations last a looooong time around here :)
Preserved boxwood aren’t necessarily the most inexpensive accessory. Mine were around $50 each. This is normally more than I would spend, but I thankfully had enough referral credit in my Joss & Main account to cover them. I do think they’re a good investment, though, since they work in all seasons and in so many different places. I’ve been playing around, putting mine in different spots, just to see my options when I get tired of them on our kitchen table:

I would love to get some of these one day (sooner than later!). They look great and are so versatile. Thanks for sharing!

They are pretty! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI really like these! I was just staring at some boxwood wreaths online the other day, deciding whether I should go for it. I think they're a worthy investment, as you could keep them for years and move them around to different parts of the house. I have an anti-green thumb too, so I'll keep this in mind!
ReplyDeleteI've got that same lack of a green thumb problem. In fact, misting them occasionally is probably more than I could even remember. They look pretty, though, especially around the holidays.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a plant I can maintain! They look great.
ReplyDeleteI love boxwoods too, so so pretty.
ReplyDeleteGreat purchase! I love the look they create! Thanks for sharing....

I'm putting these all over my house lately, too. I found a great deal on them at Home Goods recently...only $29.99 for the really big ones! I love that they're black-thumb approved, which sadly, I am :)
ReplyDeleteI got the same ones from HG too! Really really love them. Recently found the ones with the really long stems! Glad I'm not the only one crazy in love with boxwood!
DeleteThat's exactly what I want for my table. I'll have to watch on JM and OKL, as well as Homegoods and Tuesday Morning... I don't do well with plants. Our succulents are looking BAD!
ReplyDeleteWhat size are they?
ReplyDeleteJust over 9 inches. Here's the link: https://www.jossandmain.com/Tony-Cappoli-Interiors-Preserved-Boxwood-Topiary~FYP1029~E1733.html
DeleteGorgeous! I love that they're preserved rather than fake too. Not judging fake, by the way. I've got that in my house too. How are you liking your Ikea chairs by the way? I was there yesterday and could not tale my eyes off them! Have you tried to wash the cover yet?
ReplyDeleteWould you please let me know if you see them on any of those flash sale sites again? I'd love you for that!
ReplyDeleteLove these...have a few around my house as well. As far as cost goes...much cheaper than (killing) and replacing real plants every couple of months!
ReplyDeleteThey are the way to go for me, too , Emily. I love topiaries and inevitably want them in places where there's little light. Love your finds:)

love those! I just picked up two preserved boxwoods at Marshalls on clearance ( I got both for $30) and figured finally something I can't kill and the cats won't touch. Love the green they add to your dining space.
ReplyDeleteI love preserved boxwood. I have two small topiaries that I move around the house when the mood strikes. I found them at Tuesday Morning a few years ago for $15! My non-green thumb also loves my terrarium. It is in a pretty apothecary jar and it is thriving without ANY care.
ReplyDeleteLove your kitchen! I have an obsession with preserved boxwood too. I also planted about 10 of them (real) in my yard this past summer. They look stunning in two pedestals framing the front door.

I am also a huge fan and picked up a couple lately. We still have balloons around here from my dad's birthday! Makes me feel better.
ReplyDeleteThey are very pretty! I am terrible with plants so I really should invest in a few!

I adore boxwood. It is classic and the new shapes look so chic! I love the rustic pot... and the trio looks fabulous on your table!!!
ReplyDeleteI just may just have to copy kat this beautiful accent!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
I would love to get some preserved boxwood someday! I just love the look of it!
ReplyDeleteI have a brown thumb and have considered decorating with fake plants but worried about them looking tacky. These are great and graphic, nice call!
ReplyDeleteWell....I did not know that you had to mist them...put some in a clients house and did not tell her that....whoops :)
ReplyDeleteHey did you throw that pillow in there just for me :)
Emily, I love boxwoods. So versatile for every season. Great investment :) Kristin
ReplyDeleteI have some preserved boxwood from Ballard and love it. I think it was money well spent.
