Halloween Invites (& DJ Lance Rock)

When it comes to Halloween, my creativity goes out the window.  So, I was impressed with this cute invitation we received in the form of an old medicine bottle:

I haven’t dressed up in years.  Like I said, no Halloween creativity.  It totally stresses me out to think up these things—especially a couple’s costume.  I do know what we’re wearing.  And, it’s embarrassingly stupid.  I’ll show you the pictures after the party.

As for my kids, it’s a total free for all.  No coordinating costumes around here.  We have everything going on from DJ Lance Rock to a blue Morphsuit.  (Seriously, you would have to pay me a million dollars to wear one of those out in public.)

(I think it’s safe to say I’ve thrown in the towel where Halloween costumes are concerned.)

By the way, did you catch the Halloween decorations over at Brooklyn Limestone?  She always amazes me.  I feel 100% certain that her baby (on the way) will never dress up as DJ Lance.

What about you?  Any creative costumes planned?

  1. I just threw in the towel with the creativity over here. Scooped up a perfectly good skeleton costume from Target for my son and my daughter has planned a whole costume around a ridiculous wig. Feels good to let it go! And that blue suit. . not sure a million dollars would do it for me. Wowzah!

  2. I am right there with you on the Halloween costumes. When my kids were little, I made them the most adorable costumes (coordinating, of course). Now that I have lost all control, it is a free for all around here too. I bought my 5 year old's costume at the grocery store last night. It's tacky and cheap and he LOVES it. Works for me!

  3. My sons always expect me to make their costumes and since I can't sew it is kind of a stressful challenge filled with lots of fabric glue. My youngest always wants to be some form of Ash from Pokemon or Ben from Ben 10 and then proceeds to wear the costums as his regular clothes for the rest of the year. I totally have not started anything for this year yet. Not good!

  4. I don't even try with the costumes since my kids have their own ideas. I'm already starting on the Halloween decor outside, but I can't say it's original. I think someone needs to dedicate a post to figuring out how to untangle those spiderwebs from the store. I usually just throw it out in frustration, but I keep trying every year.

  5. What an amazing Halloween party invite! wow!I've never come up with good costumes for myself, but I'm always amazed at what others will come up with. Brookly Limestone's Halloween costumes and decor blow me away every year! Looking forward to seeing your couple's costume after the party. I have a feeling you are going to look great!!

  6. I'm not creative with my kids' costumes. There have been years where I've had fun dressing myself up as someone famous (Amy Winehouse one year, Octomom another.) No desire to get dressed up this year though. I do feel like I want to do something cute with my twins this year...I keep thinking maybe Harry Potter and Hermoine??? Haven't made a decision yet. Since I completely suck at making costumes I'm kinda limited to what I can buy pre made. they'll probably end up as something totally cliche like batman and cat woman. (Not that Harry Potter and Hermoine are all that creative!)

  7. I suggested to my husband that we dress up like Mary Poppins and Bert. He poo-pooed the idea so I guess we're once again going as a mother and father.

  8. We always host a Halloween party - it's my favorite time of the year. It's going to be Wizard of Oz themed, just like Brooklyn Limestone. Not sure which character I'll be but I'm hoping for the Wicked Witch.

  9. Thanks!

I have no idea who DJ lance is so I can't comment on that one but Im with you on never ever getting into a body suit.

Have you strolled Pinterest for costume ideas? Lots of really clever couple and family costumes over there.

  12. I have dark hair and I threw on a suit and some glasses. I put a button on my suit saying something about a hockey mom...I was Sarah Palin. It was a very easy costume and everyone thought it was cute.

  13. Haha, I've given up too. We've always had coordinated costumes before this year, but my girls have been telling me what they want to be since June, so I figure there's no changing their minds. :)

  14. I totally stress out about costume ideas too. Once I get an idea, I enjoy the execution, but until then, I just wish Halloween would slide by so I can start getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My boyfriend wants me to be a monkey so he can be a banana. He thinks it's hilarious, but I'm not so sure. Maybe I will just be My Little Pony (again).

  15. I'm with you...it stresses me out to try and think of something and then I don't want to be uncomfortable all night so it has to be easy.....blaa....blaa.....I usually end up not wearing one and everybody gives me a hard time!

  16. Halloween is on its way ant the costume market is at its boom. Everyone celebrates this event with his own style and tradition. I do a lot of fun on this event and my kids also enjoy it a lot. I let them to the store and give them free hand to select their won choice. Now as they are growing bigger, they have some change in taste and they feel very big champion after getting theirs.
