As promised, here are more pictures of the Southern Living Idea House, thanks to our sweet friend and babysitter who went a couple of weeks ago. I know you’ve seen most of these spaces in the magazine already, but I always think it’s fun to see the rooms from different angles.
That’s one thing about idea houses/home tours. It’s always hard to pretend like I live there with all of those ladies and their purses in “my” living room :)
The dining room was one of my favorite spots. Just goes to show that a really simple centerpiece can be beautiful.
I love the dark powder room, but wasn’t able to find the name of the paint color online. Anybody know?
Such a sweet nook at the top of the stairs—with my current favorite IKEA chairs:
View looking down from the same nook:
Love the fabric they used for the bedroom. My sitter was kind of enough to point out that it’s from IKEA:
This shower curtain! So simple. So pretty.
And, love the wire baskets for laundry room storage. . .
Ebay has a lot of these (search “locker baskets”) but they seem to be a pretty hot item. I’m putting these on my flea market shopping list.
Another picture of the drapes on the door that I blogged about the other day:
And some outside shots:
And, just for fun, I grabbed this photo from the Tracery blog so we could see a comparison between a “real life” shot of the room versus the magazine cover. Amazing what small touches of pink and green in the right places can do:
What was your favorite part of this year’s Idea House?

The Home Goods here had a lot of those baskets. Is there one near you?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on Homegoods!
ReplyDeleteLove, Love, Love!
ReplyDeleteI LOOOVE that house when I first saw the cover in my mailbox my heart skipped a beat..this issue is a definitely a keeper. I just don't get why women carry their bags into homes if they know its just a tour or a visit...no one is there to purchase anything.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's just me, but I think the little skulls above the bed (master bed?) are kinda creepy. I'd never do that.
ReplyDeleteI really want to go to Senoia to see this in person!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is the little office-ette at the landing of the stairway. What a great use of space!
ReplyDeleteI love this house! The porch with the four rattan chairs is my favorite spot…..I could happily lounge there with a cool drink for hours!
ReplyDeleteI'm so smitten with this home! I too am in love with those IKEA chairs and am tempted to buy them for our beach house! And that duvet folded up at the foot of the master bed... it's ikea too!
ReplyDeleteI really loved the plank walls, especially on the stairwell with the photo gallery. This was my favorite idea house ever. Thanks for the "insider' peek!
ReplyDeleteHow I love that house! What I love it the mix of Ikea thrown in....love that.
ReplyDeleteI love the dining room, and the MBR and the outdoor spaces! I love to go to these things-wish I was closer.

Nice house...livable...well without all those women and their purses. Ha!
ReplyDeleteAlso love the last shot Tracery's Vs. the prof photog...amazing what good lighting and photoshop can do!
Can I just say that you are amazing? After you had twins, I expected that you would, rightfully so, slack off from blogging, yet every time I come to your site there is a new post for me to drool over / be inspired by. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! If I had to guess , the paint color looks like BM dragon's Breath?
ReplyDeleteThe living room is my favorite space in this year's home...sooo my style! But I will say that I'm a little disappointed with the kitchen. :( but not enough to keep me from wanting to move right in! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots...love the gallery walls, especially on the stairway. You know you do alot of laundry when a new dryer gets you excited! I would love one! Definitely a must in your daily routine!!
ReplyDeletelove hoe they styled the outdoor patio! Looks so inviting, like an outdoor living room
ReplyDeletePaint in the powder room: Gauntlet Gray (SW7019) Sherwin Williams
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful home...it is hard to decide! But I love the lantern over the dining room table and the cozy upholstered chairs ready to be dined in. Who says you can't be incredibly comfortable while you eat? ;-)
ReplyDelete@phillips phamily Thanks for finding the paint color :)
ReplyDeleteWow!! I love all the stripes and gingham... and all that paneling! My oh my.
ReplyDeleteLove that dining room lantern ~ Love all the rooms...
ReplyDeleteI just looked again, because I LOVE the dining room...they changed the chairs from their mag spread. I like the burlap covered crates better...wonder why they changed them?
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely home. I like wall paintings and the bulbs.
ReplyDeleteI am so obsessed with this house. Loved it in the magazine. Strangely enough, my favorite space is the stairs and the little landing. The art collection gets me every time!
