Home Improvement, More Organized (& a giveaway)

Home improvement, as we all know, can be a wonderful thing.

Office Progress

It can also be stressful.

Hard on the schedule, hard on the budget, hard on the husband.

One of my new sponsors has found a way to ease (some of ) the pain.  HomeZada is an online management system for organizing all of your home projects and everything that goes along with it.

HomeZada Overview

It allows you to manage your upcoming and current home and landscaping projects all in one place.  The husbands will like this—it lets you budget and forecast your spending.  You can now show him why you need  to repaint your kitchen cabinets and rip up all of your carpet in a nice little presentation, complete with pie charts and graphs :)

The site also provides you with inspirational photos for your projects:

There’s a feature that lets you track your home inventory, along with warranties, receipts and owner’s manuals.  HomeZada also keeps you on task, lets you organize your budget and save files, product research, etc.

  3. Sounds like a life saver! My husband and I put an offer on a 1922 bungalow just last night, and as a first time home buyer, a house that age is quite scary!! Cross your fingers on our offer! ;-)

  4. Great idea! We are working on a budget refresh of our living/dining room. New dining chairs, painting a 80's hutch and a huge faux bamboo mirror in a color to be named later. Yikes! Next up, family room!

  15. Great giveaway! That pie graph presentation would sure come in handy with my husband - I'm trying to convince him that we need new flooring.

  16. There wasn't a folder that said "Husband"-hahah. This is an amazing piece of software. Maybe I wouldn't go into a project with blind ambition if I had it, and end up spending waaaaayyyy more than I'd planned!

  17. I just starting reading your blog - over from Little Green Notebook and I'm really enjoying it!
I have sheets of paper pulled from the printer that I make lists on, but then the coffee ring stains smudge the pencil! This app would be SO much easier!

  18. This seems like a pretty cool concept and we have a few projects coming up (converting bonus room to actual bedroom and redoing our patio) that it would be helpful for. Wishing I had done something similar for our mini kitchen redo where the budget got away from me and now we are on hold with no backsplash while I save up for what I really want!!

  19. I would love this ! We are moving back to Texas in September and will need to tackle a ton of projects in our new home once we buy!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. So many projects, so little time! I think I am going to add better baseboard around the house next.

  21. We are tackling a bathroom reno in a couple months! This would certainly help me stay organized!

  22. What a great sponsor and idea...we need a little more organization around here! :) We try to do at least one large remodeling project a year to this old house but it is slow going! I am hoping that in the next year we can re-vamp our main hall and stairway area and hopefully renovate our (terrible awful) back porch into a "mudroom". Wish me luck...lol!

  23. Oh my goodness! What a fabulous idea!! My husband and I are totally renovating/restoring a home that was built in 1939.... This would be a dream and come in soooooo handy for us! Right now I am just keeping everything in a binder with sleeves/tabs for organization. It is "organized chaos" at best.... Hahaha! My husband would think I am the greatest if I showed him this and had our budget, receipts, ideas, etc all prepared and organized. Pure genius!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love this! We are going to finish our basement soon, so this would be perfect!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. oh this is fantastic!! I always jump in and start moving ... and even at the end I am not certain how much I spent on everything. Quite possibly because I am so slow in my own home. But I am in need!! xo

  26. What an awesome service! Such a simple idea, I'm surprised it hasn't been around forever. We're about to put our house on the market so we have tons of improvements to make. Namely painting our electric blue (previous homeowner's idea)guest room a much more neutral shade.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sounds cool! Our next big project will be the kitchen.

    ReplyDelete
  28. While we always have tons of little projects going on, the next big one is turning the basement from a cave to an enjoyable family/TV room!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes, home improvement is hardest on my husband too!
I really need a household inventory and to get those receipts and manuals organized, somehow that escaped my spring cleaning fever:)

  32. This sounds fantastic. I literally have scraps of paper and notes all over my house with what I want to do in each room that I end up losing or they get thrown away and I rewrite a new list EVERY week. This would help me (and my hubby) plan out and prioritize without having all my little notes cluttering up the house. Please, please pick me!

  33. This would be great for me since I am about to purchase a new home and there are several projects that I will need to tackle to update my fixer-uper!

  34. Omg, this is like the commercial and industrual project management + O&M toos made for the everyday homeowner! GENIUS! As I am slowly working through our entire house...including a full-blown reno at some distant point, this would be SO helpful! Right now I am finishing the dining room and have either master bath or kitchen next.

  35. Love this product. My husband and I purchased our first house two years ago and it hadn't been touched since it was built in 1950. We are about to tackle our first big project of completely redoing our kitchen.

  36. How awesome! We are in our 5th fixer upper and plan to be out of here in 6 months so the projects are piling up. I could totally use an organizational tool to keep me on task.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The look on your husband's face is identical to the one I got this morning when I reminded my bf to call Lowes about our (post-flood lack of) flooring for the fourth time haha. This program sounds like just what I need! :)

Thanks for the chance to win!

  52. We are actually going to meet with a kitchen designer at our local home improvement store and replace our cabinets, counter tops and appliances. We have original hardwoods buried underneath a layer of 1960s rust colored indoor/outdoor carpeting! We plan to refinish them and add trim as well. I can't wait to have a non-ugly kitchen!

    ReplyDelete
  53. My next project will be my garden shed. It's horrible--I've been so busy this summer that (although I hate to admit this), I've just thrown stuff in there, or sat it inside the doorway. It's truly bad.

  60. Where to begin, where to begin?!?!?!!! Let's see, I just finished my bachelors degree (literally turned in my last assignment about two days ago), my four kids started school yesterday (my "babies" are 9,12,14,&17), and I turn the great "4-0" today while I sit here stewing over which house project to do first!! We moved to south Florida two summers ago to our concrete-block-looks-just-like-all-the-other-houses-in-Florida and my to-do list is more like a "to-DREAM" list (hence, how to make my concrete block NOT look like all the others) because we have no plan to go about figuring out how to make it all come together or (most importantly) how to pay for it...(speed bump). Anyway, this HomeZada sounds great...And I love that I'll be able to come to my husband (the right brain number crunching handsome banker dude) with fancy pie charts and graphs and say, "yes honey, we DO "need" to rip up ALLLLLL of the nasty carpets...it says so right here, see..."

  61. Such an awesome concept! We've been updating as finances have allowed for the last 9 yrs. Yet on our list are final phases of the kitchen, laundry, full bath, dining and additions of a backyard deck, mudroom & 4th bedroom. I'd love a tool to help keep us organized & on track.

  82. I love this whole organization shelf, and that app... Oh my! How that would have helped in renovating my house! I do want to say that if you have an older home make sure you check for asbestos before you start pulling things down and breathing in dust. I had this problem that no one told me about when I was buying my house. I needed help to get rid of the asbestos, and of course being that I just bought the house I had no money. I had to look up ways to help and found this great settlement loan. It helped so much and I got rid of the health hazard in my home
