(I credit Monica Geller for first making mismatched chairs cool, btw.)
Craigslist is a great source if you want to pick up some odd chairs to recreate a similar look. You can often find chairs in odd numbers for a really great price. I just saw three of these, for example, on my local Craigslist for $20 each:
And, another listing for three side chairs and one armchair that would only need some new fabric:
And, you can always paint them for a quick update. Remember the chairs I bought for our old dining room for $12 a piece? You know I believe spray paint can fix anything.

Great prices on the chairs. The outdoor picnic looks fabulous. So fun. It just needs to cool down a bit. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLove a good chair!

I agree with you and Mr. GWH. I can't pass up a good and inexpensive chair. Chairs are a quick and fun project-you can't go wrong. Sometimes when I am in a thrift store I have to tell myself "step away from the chairs"!!
ReplyDeleteSupport group anyone...Hi...my name is Sherry and I am addicted to chairs"
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Emily..."no thanks....I have enough chairs" said no one ever!

man our Craigslist is so sad, we never have any good pieces like those. I've been on the hunt for a set of Chinese Chippendale Bamboo chairs for my dining room, Of course I probably dont search it often enough to find those kinda deals. I LOVED your white dining chairs!
ReplyDeleteI love using unloved indoor chairs outside for extra seating too. The funny thing is my husband just picked up two ugly but sturdy chairs that someone was throwing out. I was going to leave them as is for our dinner party but now I'm inspired to give them a coat of spraypaint! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for corralling these lovely images for us! Chair candy!!!
ReplyDeleteI cut out a magazine picture about 20 years ago with mismatched chairs around a farmhouse table. It was the perfect inspiration photo, as all I had at the time were a bunch of mismatched chairs :) Still love that picture today.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! My hubs calls me "Monica" sometimes because of my love affair with my labelmaker. Sad, but true. :)
ReplyDeleteI am always scouring the opshops for good chairs! I love what you have done with yours!
ReplyDeleteI love the mixed chairs look. And I am in awe of how the super-dated cane back chair looks after you hosed it down with that white spray paint :)
ReplyDeleteWhere do you normally find your chairs? Craiglist/kijji? Sometimes i find that the chairs i find on craiglist is pretty expensive. Love what you did to the new chair though, it looks really lovely :)
