Random Updates on Stuff. . .

How’s that for an ambiguous post title?  Well, today is a little random because pre-planning blog posts these days is getting harder and harder.  And, blogging with swollen fingers is no fun either.  More on that in a minute. . .  For now, a little of this and that:

Remember the orchid I bought at IKEA a couple of months ago?  It’s still alive!  This is a major feat for me.  I keep it on my desk in front of a big window and am sticking to the advice many of you gave me—only giving it two ice cubes per week.  It’s working like a charm.

We got the patio furniture that I ordered from Target and are loving it.  It’s from the Belvedere collection and so far, seems to be good quality and durable.  Like I mentioned before, you can order the pieces separately instead of as a whole set, which was a major plus for me.  (And, it just happens to be on sale right now. . .)

I have several little tasks to finish (and document) before I show you more of the patio.  But for now, I’m doing a lot of this:

Amy from Eat. Sleep. Decorate. sent me the link to her newly painted front door. Amazing the difference a little color can make. She used Calypso Blue by Benjamin Moore, and it’s such a fun change for Spring.

A quick update on the post I did earlier this week on a free offer from the CanvasPeople.  Unfortunately, the offer was changed to 50% off any size canvas, without me knowing.  I took down the original post, but if you want to take advantage of the new offer, you can do so here (until Father’s Day).

And, if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m still pregnant!  I hit the crucial 36 week mark yesterday:

(Yes, I’m cropping out my head on purpose. . .My face looks just as pregnant as my belly at this point.)

Let me just say, as much of a blessing as being pregnant with twins is, it’s also been misery the last several weeks.  I’ll spare you the details but to say I’m ready to meet our babies would be a huge understatement.

Thanks for reading my random thoughts.  Have a great weekend.

  4. Love seeing the belly pics and hope you'll get to meet your babies soon! A very good friend, who lives far away, is 30 weeks with twins and looking at your posts makes me feel like I'm getting a little extra glimpse into what her belly must be looking like (she won't share pics!).
    Thanks!!

  5. Emily - I know your belly is housing twins, but you are still so tiny...your arms look so toned and I'm sure your face hasn't changed like you think it has. When I was pregnant with one I swear I looked like a water balloon. You go Girl!

  11. Oh Emily...that's terrific making it to 36 weeks! A major feat if you ask me. I only made it to 34 weeks with our twin boys. Take it easy and enjoy any rest time you can get right now. You'll be longing for it once your babies arrive :)

  16. I must say that you look fantastic to be 36 weeks with TWINS!! I am a shorty, so my son had nowhere to go but out, so I looked absolutely huge when I was around 37 weeks. I can't imagine how your back (and ribs) must feel with all those legs and arms jabbing you all over the place!

I am so happy to hear that you made it this far. Relax and enjoy your wonderful weekend!

  17. ohmyword, bless your heart...you look so great, all belly...but I know your body has got to be tired from growin TWO HUMANS!! I can't wait to 'meet' them. I'm following the same advice on my orchid and I consider each day it's alive as a blessing. ;)

  31. Yay I'm so happy for you that you made it to 36 weeks! Mine came at 34 and I'd really hoped they'd make it to the 36 week mark. Boy I feel for you Emily! It's been a year and a half since they were born and I remember VIVIDLY how totally awful those last weeks were. My feet and ankles were like balloons, the skin on my stomach was stretched so thin and tight that it hurt to move- id get stabbing pains just from shifting my weight on the couch. I walked with a limp because my hips were all out of whack...oh and I had an allergic reaction to the high levels of pregnancy hormone in my body and broke out in an itchy rash that lasted for weeks...it was hellish. Really too many miseries to even list so I really really feel for you!!! Just remember you'll feel totally back to normal soon! (but then you've done this three other times, so you don't need me to tell you that!;) just hang in there; the end is near! :)

  38. I know exactly how your feeling right now, very uncomfortable! I had full term twins at 7 pound and 8 pound. It takes a toll on your body that's for sure! But it has been most rewarding and exciting over the years. It changed our lives for the better and we feel so blessed to have had the privileged. You look fantastic! Goodluck X

  52. Oh Emily I've been thinking about you! I still think it's amazing that you seem to be ALL belly with twins. And to have pants that look baggy on you? No fair at all. :) I have my feet propped up tonight elevated because my cankles are out of control. So needless to say I'm almost there with you to the point of misery.

Hope the next few weeks are as smooth as possible for you!

  53. Hang in there! The last weeks are the most painful but they will be there soon!
