Fabric-Wrapped Frames

Did you see this fabric-wrapped frame on Made By Girl last week?  Emily of Lucite + Lavendar used an extra yard of one of my favorite fabrics to make over a plain IKEA frame.

To keep this project looking cool and not too crafty, I would use it with simple typography prints (like Jen’s “Love” posters) or black and white photos.

Here’s a pretty simple, step-by-step tutorial I found online if you want to try making your own fabric frame.

  1. What a cute project idea! And I agree - it needs something graphic and punchy to keep from looking too cutesy.

  2. Super fun! I just don't know if I could use a yard of Chiang Mia for a frame!!

  4. LOVE that frame! The fabric is absolutely perfect. What if it were part of the matting (between two plain mats) instead? Hrmmmmm.... *off to look at fabric pile*

  5. I'll admit, I first look I wasn't really feeling it, until I saw it in context on the wall in the nursery next to the fabric letters. It is cute, and especially for a kids room.

  8. Great idea! You could also do it with wallpaper/wrapping paper and some mod podge. I tried something similar by wrapping a mat recently (inside the frame) and that worked rather well too (results here in the background: http://sfair.blogspot.com/2012/05/privet-house.html). I'm excited to give this a try.

P.S. I frequently see pics on your webpage that I'd love to pin on pinterest, but I always get an error message saying this page is not html compliant. :(
