Our room isn’t close to being finished, but I thought you might like seeing how our walls turned out after going white. I know you like seeing pretty pictures but this is how we’ve been living while I contemplated painting it blue vs. white:
See, it’s so bad that I didn’t even feel the need to make my bed for you. . .
After deciding it would be way too much blue, we got ambitious and painted the room a soft white:
This was just a quick picture I snapped. I need to work on the bedding and my plan is to recover the ottoman in this gold Ikat fabric that has been draped over it for the last month (well, maybe longer). Unfortunately, I don’t have a source for the fabric. . . I bought it from a blogger who was selling some of her extras. The mirror is the same one we had over the mantle in our last family room.
We kept the trim the same and painted the walls this color:

“Shoji White” by Sherwin Williams
I love it. In fact, I wouldn’t mind if the rest of my house was painted the same shade.
I wanted our room to have a completely different feel than our last house, but I’m obviously working with the same furniture and white bedding, for the most part. . . .
our last master bedroom
So, that’s where it is now. There are other plans for this room that I’ll be sharing with you next week.

Thanks to my renewing sponsor:

i love the white- the curtains pop and look even more luxurious as does the bed.
ReplyDeletelooks great! what color is your trim?
ReplyDeleteThe white looks really great. I love the contrast of your dark bed against the wall color too. And that fabric your covering the ottoman with is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI like the white and more gold! I'm doing a similar thing in this house - completely different, yet working with some of the same items. Looking good. I love getting peeks into your home!
ReplyDeleteLove the white walls - and the ottoman fabric! When it all comes together, it will be the perfect retreat!

ReplyDeleteHello Emily,
ReplyDeleteIt looks great.
I think you will be so much more pleased with this color. I love having a light wall and being able to change the decor.
Great choice.... love, love, love the white! And what a beautiful room it is now! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the rest of your day. Jalon
ReplyDeleteThere is just something so pretty about white rooms! And I love the Ikat fabric, gorgeous! I am redoing my living room, kitchen and dining room but am using the same furniture and just changing up paint colors and accessories. It is fun and challenging! Can't wait to see your room done!
ReplyDeleteI love Shoji White...have used it many times in my own home! Also loving that i-kat fabric...looks fab with the mirror!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice!! It's so classy looking. The pops of color are awesome! :))
ReplyDeleteWhere are the pillows from? I love the large monogram on them and have the hardest time finding them!
ReplyDeleteLooking great! I love a white bedroom. It's really coming together, Emily! You're going to feel so relaxed in that room--even with the twins. :-)
ReplyDeleteAbby
I love the white! Everything really pops against it.
ReplyDeleteReally pretty. I like the mirror with the ikat fabric at the end of the bed. We painted our son's room white and after doing so I wanted the whole house white. So fresh and clean, right?
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks so fresh and bright. I like dark bedrooms as well, but this looks really inviting.
ReplyDeleteIt is looking great! That fabric is going to look awesome on the ottoman. Fingers crossed you find it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful! I love lightening up the walls. I used to have every room in my home painted dark, and never thought I would change that look. And now, I have been lightening it up and love the result. Yours is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEmily, I usually like color on the walls, but your white is perfect. It is a nice backdrop for your dark furniture. Great choice on your part, bravo! Kathysue
ReplyDeleteI think it's looking great. Love the paint, love the rug, especially with the pink and gold accents. Can't wait to see where the room goes!

Wow what a difference the white makes. At first I was skeptical, but it looks great! My master BR is a dark blue (denim by valspar) and I love it so much.
ReplyDeleteyour bench-in-process is a beauty! Contrast is our friend, yes? white walls, dark furniture -- you are going to have fun finishing this oasis. Be sure and surround yourself with comfy bed linens 'cause you are going to need your sleep!
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom looks incredible in Stoji White! It's very serene, and def looks different from your old house in that it's not quite as traditional. The rug is such a nice element too juxtaposed against the femenine elements in he room. I like it all! You are so talented. Please tell me you're keeping the white bedding and monogrammed pillowcases. :)
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC... :)))

Love where it's going. I can't wait to read the rest of your plans for it.
ReplyDeleteThat bed looks soooo inviting....would you mind if I crawled in for a quick nap?? :)
Loving the white walls! They make everything else really pop in the room!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the white. It looks so good! I'm a big fan of color, but that white looks amazing. Can't wait to see how the rest of the room turns out.
ReplyDeleteAgree with everyone else! I love the white! Looks great with the dark wood bed frame!
ReplyDeleteEmily, I have a question. Where did you purchase the lack and white cowhide rug you had in your old bedroom? Imlooking for something similar. Praying for you and your babies!
ReplyDeleteTerry ( a mom of 5, too)
Love this! It looks beautiful and good choice on going with the white :)

Looks amazing! Love that WHITE!!
ReplyDeleteWhere'd you get the bed from? Love it!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! We have a black 4 poster bed in storage and I love it with white walls and bedding too - so crisp and the accent colours can be changed whenever the mood strikes! :)
ReplyDeletewow, a subtle change with a million dollar result! it looks so crisp, tailored and smashing. I love it.

@Terri I ordered the cowhide rug from Overstock: http://emilyaclark.blogspot.com/2011/02/nothing-says-love-like-fake-cow.html
ReplyDelete@Utterly Dashing The bed is made my Zocalo (it's the Madison bed).
It's going to be fabulous and if it looks anywhere near as awesome as your last master, you'll be doing great. For the ottoman fabric, why don't you find a complimentary fabric and sew a border around the entire piece to make it the size you need. Can't wait to see it all come together.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd go for white walls and lately I love them! Your bedroom looks beautiful and solidifies that white is going up somewhere in this house!!
ReplyDeleteI like where your bedroom is headed and the white is so refreshing. I'll need to try this white. I always stick with my favorite White Dove by BM.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Where did you get the night stands? They are just what I need.
ReplyDeleteSo nice. I really appreciate the post of yours. Hope I will have it.
