Using Decals on Our Stairs

When Urban Walls contacted me and asked if I would like to try one of their decals, or customize my own, I instantly thought of my favorite line from my favorite movie and how I could somehow incorporate it in our house.

Danielle, a graphic designer and the shop owner, worked with me to find just the right font and size so that I could use the phrase going up the stairs to our playroom.

The process of installing the decals was pretty painless.  (Especially since my parents happened to be in town visiting. . . .You see who ends up doing most of the work.  I was more like the “official project photographer.”)

Once we had them positioned and centered on each step, it was time to carefully peel off the backing.

My eventual plans include painting this hallway and hanging up family photos.  But, I love the way this part turned out.  After all, isn’t this what we all want our kids to know about themselves?

  44. This is why I think I really, really like your style. It seems some decorator people are too fussy for something like that but it is absolutely perfect. (Especially for a house that's about to have five kids!!!). I only have four (only?) ... and I'm going to see if my husband will go for this. I love it!

  57. I know you already have like 4 million comments, but I have to add mine to the others...I ABSOLUTELY love this idea. To the end of time. Since I read and watched The Help, I have told my sweet babies this line every night. They love it. Putting the quote in your home was such a great idea...and on the stairs? Awesome.

  58. Looks great! Please come back and update us when you have the "why my kids get 'is' and 'are' mixed up" talk with their elementary school teachers. ;)

  59. Decals on stairs can be a cool idea, but the incorrect grammar just makes you look stupid, movie quote or no. Now you have to explain to everyone who comes into your house that it's a movie quote or they'll just assume you can't use grammar. But really either way I'd just think you're stupid for putting that on your stairs.

  60. LOVE that quote I use it all the time. It really makes my heart sing

  61. Liked this when I saw it last year, so shared it yesterday with my stair riser upgrade :)
