There are some notes that are just too sweet and too sentimental to tuck away. And, framing love letters (old or new) makes great artwork:
I love that they took letters from the homeowner’s childhood and enlarged them for a great collection above her sofa:

And, these are two of my favorite love notes that I’ve ever received:
I keep this one framed on our bookshelves, and the one below is currently taped to our kitchen cabinet :)
Have you used framed letters as artwork?

Love these! I haven't done it, but my mom has a love letter with hand cut birds and hearts from the 20's framed that was given to her aunt by her uncle. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEmily I love this idea! I have a little tattered piece of paper (tiny really) that my youngest daughter wrote I (heart) Mom on years ago. For a long time I carried it in my wallet, but it began to get frail so it now resides in a silver heart box my hubby gave me a year or so ago. One of my goals this year is to go through my children's schoolwork and notes from when they were little (they are now 18 and 22). I'd love to be able to pull out some things and frame them for our family library. Hope you are having a wonderful Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeletehahah awwwww love these!!!

So sweet. Those make me melt, and certainly capture the spirit of this day!
ReplyDeleteThese are so sweet!! Great ideas I'll have to keep in mind for when I have little ones. :) Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteLove to frame love letters and especially my childrens letters with artwork. I also have framed fortune cookie fortunes in a huge matted frame, its simple and very unique.
ReplyDeleteLove the frame idea! We made a frame out of some leftover wood and decorated a cork board with our love letters when we made over our master last summer. I love having sentimental notes around:) Here is our version: http://imperfectlypolished.com/2011/07/27/love-letters/
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea, and a great way to look back on how much love there was!
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather mailed my Grandmother a letter when he was in the Navy. It was titled "Date with a Sailor". He wrote the letter but left blanks where she had to fill in answers and then mail it back to him. There was even a blank line that she has to fill in with a kiss so there is even her lipstick mark on the letter. She passed away a few years ago but my Grandfather has this letter framed at his lake house. My grandmother would be so embarrassed if she knew it was framed and hanging for everyone to read but it's one my families most prized possession! I never get tired of reading it.
ReplyDeleteOhgoodness, I can't tell you how much I love this post. What a great idea. My parents have letters from before they were married - my dad wrote my mom daily - on a yellow legal pad! This is just soooo sweet. I would love ot use this idea in my home! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have a birthday card framed from my late husband. Still love reading the card & the sweet sentiments he wrote on it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I love the idea of so many of them all together. Such a sweet idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really great post--what a sweet reminder of the important things in life. Great idea to put such little notes in a prominent place! Happy V-day!
ReplyDeleteThe framed letters from your children are priceless! There's nothing sweeter than a child's handwriting!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea!
ReplyDeleteI haven't, but what a beautiful way to display them...especially the ones from children. Those are so special.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea for love letters.
ReplyDeleteMy husband recently went to Navy boot camp for 9 weeks. We were only able to talk on the phone for a total of about an hour the whole time, so we wrote letters every day. When we were reunited, I framed the envelope of the last letter we each sent to one another, with the letter still inside. So one day our kids can open them up and read them.
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I recently came across cards my husband sent me when he was deployed (back when we were dating). I actually forgot about some of the sweet things we said to each other! Would be perfect to frame them as a daily reminder :)
ReplyDeleteDear Emily,
ReplyDeleteHello- I'm a new follower.
Happy Valentine's Day!
How are you feeling?
I love just about anything sentimental.
I love this idea! My boys are now 18 and 15...I have several special notes tucked away. I think I will find them and frame them - they would make wonderfully personal and one of a kind artwork. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea - and it was such a perfect Valentine's Day post! My husband and my master bedroom is almost finished - we just need something more for the walls. On our wedding day we each wrote the other a note, so after seeing this post, I think I'm going to frame our letters and hang them above our nightstands. Thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. We have a bunch of my grandparents' letters. Makes me want to do something with them like this.
ReplyDeleteThis is a charming idea! My husband and I have 100's of letters we exchanged from when he was in Iraq & Afghanistan. I'm going to pick a few to frame now. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteLove this. Might have to go up to the attic and go through my Mom's things to find some letters. What a great memory to have around......
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. Completely brilliant! I love the look of it and definitely also the sentimentality. Thanks for the great tip!
