A Fresh Start

Remember when you were a kid and how exciting a new school year always seemed?  This would be the year you had more friends, better hair, etc.  It was always the promise of a fresh start, new notebooks and a clean backpack.

January gives me the same rush as a grown-up—especially when it comes to creating a fresh start for our home.

It’s the possibility that this will be the year I am more organized. . .

  3. Love the "Living in my house more than doing" I constantly feel like I am doing as opposed to living!

  4. Happy New Year, Emily! And what an exciting year this will be for you! ;-)
My number one resolution for my home is to finish all those projects I started. Once that's done, I can turn to new things as time/budget allows. Wish me luck!

  5. Put my art on my walls. I don't know why that seems to be so difficult for me!

  6. All of those sound good! I'm going to try to be more organized and get rid of anything in my home that doesn't need to be there. I'm also going to try to add some more "interest" to our home.

  7. The big To-Do item for our house this year is to figure out how to bring our 3rd baby into our small 3 bedroom house without feeling like we're busting at the seams. Sadly, my craft space has to go :( and then we have to figure out how to combine baby's room with guest accomodations...eek!

  11. I have long since given up "being more organized" as a resolution because it's just not going to happen. But I'm sticking with "finish what I start" for at least another few years! Happy New Year Emily A. Clark: the lady, the blog and fam!

  12. After taking down the Christmas decorations, I feel refreshed and that my house is clean again! I want to add more elements to make it feel more fresh and organic...which, of course, means more money and being creative on a tiny budget (seems like we've got a theme here)!

  14. Yes to all! I'm really going to work on the organization thing this year because I think it will make my life easier so I can do more fun things (like decorate on a shoestring budget) :) I even started a series, "Organizing and Decluttering for Unorganized and Cluttery People". Doing this series is going to keep me on task (I hope!) Stop by if you need some organizing inspiration!

  18. Definitely to enjoy living in it, more than figuring out what I can change. That and finding ways to maximize space!

    Hope you're feeling well.

    Happy New Year.

  20. I with you all the way! I want to create with what I have just repurpose things and pack up some of the things that I have now. I don't really want to get rid of things because I go in my mom's house and see things from my childhood and LOVE remembering when it hung in my room or my brothers or the den. She was always changing things around. I am all about simplifying and enjoying being with my children! They grow up too fast!!

  22. I'm with you totally hoping this is my year I'm going to get organized at home! I'm also hoping to really push myself to step our look up. I want to take our look from quaint PB inspired cottage to more of a sophisticated mod cottage look. Best of luck with your 2012 goals! Loving your inspiration photos! Carrie

  23. I have pretty much the same goals as you! We are moving into new home and my hope is to actually decorate it as opposed to "thinking" about it (like I did in our last home).
