Someone recently left a comment saying they would like to see how I used pieces from the old house in our new house. So, here’s one example.
Remember the huge abstract painting that hung in our living room? It was a Craigslist find and one of my first purchases for our last home.
See more of this room and details here.
It was a great focal point above the sofa, but we don’t have the same kind of wall space in the new house. So, it ended up on an available wall in our hallway, visible from the front door:
I’ve been wondering about all of the orange and brown in the painting lately, but this rug arrived for our foyer last week and is making me feel better about all of it. I’ll share more details about the rug tomorrow.

PS—There’s still time to win an Oreck Magnesium vacuum! Go here to enter.

Emily it's in the perfect spot, looking forward to more info on your rug.
ReplyDeleteLike the way you used the painting. Love your umbrella stand too, I am on the hunt for one for my foyer.
ReplyDeleteI still cannot believe you scored that painting from Craigslist! Looks great in the entry. Are you planning to use colors from the painting throughout the rest of the house, too?
ReplyDeleteGreat way to re-incorporate the painting in the new house.

I love it there! And I'm dying over that rug. The pattern is so nice. It has the same feel as a trellis pattern without being another trellis rug.

I love orange and I love abstract art so I look forward to seeing how the two look together, but from what I see so far, I love it! One of the things I love most about moving is finding new homes for my existing stuff (ok and buying new stuff :)) because it makes it all seem fresh again...fun post.
ReplyDeleteI "liked" Oreck on Facebook

ReplyDeleteI love the modern abstract feel of the painting up against your neutral paint and traditional moldings. It looks beautiful!
