My First Kilim Rug

I haven’t even begun to decorate our kids’ rooms since we moved in, but I did order this colorful rug last week as the jumping off point for my son’s room:

I’ve been trying to figure out where to fit a kilim rug into our house for a while, and this one seemed playful enough for a little boy’s room (and the price was right).

I especially love the mix of colors they bring into an overall neutral space:

And, although out of my price range, I love the vintage ones that Pottery Barn now offers:

What’s your take on kilim rugs?  Do you own one, or have a good source to share with us?

  2. Love these images! My favorite kilims are the faded ones with softer, worn colors. I have spotted some great ones on Etsy and Ebay actually :)

  3. What a fabulous rug for your son's room! I don't have a kilim rug but like you, I think one of my boy's rooms would be the perfect spot. Can't wait to see what you do!

  4. I think a kilim rug would be great in our kitchen. I might have to think about that. I really like the one that you've selected for your son's room and love all of the possibilities you could take from it.

  7. I love the faded worn colours of a kilim rug. I would love to use one in our cottage. It would bring a shot of colour and be beautiful against the wood floors and beams.

  8. I love Kilim rugs. They have so much interest and texture. I don't have one in my home, but hope to at some point. I love the one you picked out for your son's room. The colors are so vibrant and fun!
