I cleaned my pantry. Well, it’s big news to me. . . As much as I love to decorate, I’m lacking in the organization department. (I blame it on my creative mind!) But, after looking at this for the last four months and barely being able to find what I needed for school lunches, I finally tackled it:
And, here you have it!

Okay, just kidding—but that would make for a waaaaay better reveal :) (That lovely pantry actually belongs to Shelley, who apparently has much more patience than myself.)
This is what it actually turned out like:
See, I told you I’ve been finding lots of use for those IKEA baskets lately:
And, here’s my attempt at “pretty.” I used a glass jar :) See, I told you I was bad at this.
So for those of you who love organization (well, wait a minute—I love organization, just not the organizing part). . . What are your best tips/strategies for keeping your pantry in tip-top shape?
Help me! :)

Well done! I love the idea of the glass containers - pretty and you can see what you have inside. I have canvas baskets for small items and spices that work great for me!

I think it looks great! Great job at making it organized :) I only dream to have things that categorized in baskets ( which are great ones btw) and pretty glass jars. We don't have a pantry in out kitchen, BUT someday when I do I hope it's pretty, and organized!
ReplyDeleteLove the glass jars. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHaving an organized pantry is such a good feeling! Looks great.
ReplyDeletecongrats! Doesn't it feel great to feel organized? I find that nothing gets me as excited as a well organized spot (sad, I know!). Getting my spices out and into magnetic tins was a huge first step - no more jumble of jars and spice bags. And a basket or box for baking supplies is a lifesaver. :)
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! I am not an organizer in any way! I admire people who do have that gift. I "organized" my pantry not to long ago. It isn't pretty but it is more functional! I just found a blog last night that I love. It is called iheart organizing! It is fantastic. Check her out!

Ha! I saw that first pantry revealed a while back and literally thought about it for weeks! I use a lot of glass jars since I buy a lot of things in bulk, they look nice all lined up on the shelves, and it's easy to see how much/little I have of everything. I also have one shelf for dinner prep type stuff--sauces, pasta, rice, beans, etc. and another shelf for snacks and baking--cereal, crackers, raisins, nuts, seeds, etc.
ReplyDeleteI love sorting out the pantry! I know, I am a freak! I guess I just find it therapeutic. Have a lovely weekend, hun!
ReplyDeleteZones and labels! It may seem silly or overkill, but it makes a huge difference. Husband can find things AND put them away. It's a miracle.
ReplyDeleteI posted about it here: http://zodirowe.blogspot.com/2011/07/pantry-organization.html
Baskets are also awesome!
It looks great and I love the IKEA baskets! I too, am organizationally challenged! The bigger problem for me is that when I do organize something it looks a mess again in a week! :)
ReplyDeletemy biggest thing is cleaning out the pantry every time i go to the grocery store...that way, those "old" items don't stay longer than their welcome--i also use stainless canisters to hold crackers, pasta, and snacks so there aren't so many random boxes on each shelf ;)
ReplyDeleteLove it Emily, certainly one to be proud of and to show off!!!
ReplyDeleteWe posted about the same thing this morning! http://www.trianglehoneymoon.com/2011/10/07/cleanin-out-our-closets/
ReplyDeleteIt looks good to me!! I know how quickly things can get out of hand, it happens around here all the time. I actually like to organize, I fall down on the keeping it that way!! I did a pantry re-do last year and so far it has really helped me stay pretty organized. My best tip is go to Goodwill and buy clear decanters for items. I also used white cloth baskets to corral things like bread, chips etc. My new best friend is a labler, love my labler!!! You can see my pantry here if you want to see it.....

Oh my gosh, you crazy girl, I totally thought that first "after" pantry was yours. Ha ha - I was sitting here and my jaw just dropped when I saw it. :) BUT, two enthusiastic thumbs up on YOUR after. Are you like me and find yourself opening the door later on to see the organization you produced?
ReplyDeleteYour before pantry looks like what my pantry would look like if I had a pantry. (I'm lacking in the organization department too. Thanks for making me feel better!)
ReplyDeleteCheers to a nice, easy-to-get-at lunch making space.
I love it!!! I need to "reorganize' mine again, it's been awhile! I would love to wallpaper it someday too!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful ucoming week!

I used a bunch of those white plastic baskets with holes in them (you have one big one on a lower shelf) and I labeled them with cute scrapbook paper. Some of my labels are nuts, sweet baking, oil/vinegar/dressings, fruit, veggies (cans), etc. It makes it SO much easier to find and when the "snacks" basket is empty, I know what I need to buy.
