One of my readers emailed asking for my thoughts on a set of these chairs she bought on Craigslist for a steal:
I suggested she start by painting the frame. Not only did she do that, but she went and upholstered the chairs herself, adding her own special touch. Fortunately, she was nice enough to send me follow up pictures of how they turned out.
She used this pricier version by Ballard Designs for her inspiration:
She painted the frame and slightly distressed it:
And, instead of investing a lot of money into reupholstering, she recovered them herself using canvas drop cloths:
And, my favorite part. . . She painted two stripes directly on the backs:
