A Party at The Nest

Over the weekend, I got to visit the home of one of my favorite bloggers.  The Nester hosted a beautiful party to celebrate the release of her sister’s book, Grace for the Good Girl.  (I bought this book for both myself and Katie.  Want to read it with us?)

So, my original plan was to just go to the party and act like a “normal” person.  But, when I got there, actually saw her home in person and became overwhelmed with all of the incredible party details, I went into full-on blogger mode and started taking pictures left and right.

I could’ve kicked myself for not bringing my good camera, but I had to post these fuzzy phone pictures anyway.  You’ve just got to see this. . .

Remember, it was a book release party so all of the decorations centered around old books, including “leaves” made of pages and attached to these wild branches around the front door.

She had the house divided into sections to keep things running smoothly.  This little reception area, complete with a cute greeter, was by the front door:

Check out this book leaf “swag” going up her stairs.  She even kept guests downstairs by tying this cute garland across the bottom.  (She swore her upstairs was a wreck; I won’t believe it until I see it.)

This is her adorable sister and author of the book.  “Emily A.” had tons of fun meeting “Emily P.”  :)

(Check out the book page tablecloth!)

Yes, she covered her chandelier in book pages:

Book page bouquets:

You even registered for door prizes by writing your name on what else? An old book page.  (I won a cute journal and coffee cup, btw!)

Okay, loved this idea.  She hung curtains to frame her French doors leading in to the office.

See the rolls of book pages underneath the mirror?  Such great details throughout the whole house.

The spread of food was beautiful.  I am so bad about food presentation; I took this picture so I could study it later.

One of my favorite spots in the house:

Look closely; she even cut out small birds from book pages and glued them inside the lampshade.  (Yes, really.)  I was on sensory overload, in a good way.  (And, do you spot the wreath she made of plastic spoons?!)

And, one clear picture I stole from the Nester’s site this morning :)  She is definitely the hostess with the mostess.

  21. Emily,

Love this post! I can't believe all the work to do that! It was like Disney world how every detail has something to do with Disney! So cool! Quick question, do you know where the taupe and white horizontal stripe curtains from the first room came from? I have been looking for those exact curtains!

    Thanks!
    Liz :)
