Since things are slow-going around my house, thought I would share what’s in the works over at Katie’s house (which is also slow-going, thanks to fact that she’s working hard for me. . .).
Anyway, we found these beautiful paintings on our flea market hunt (can you believe she only paid $15 for both?!) and she already had the Imperial trellis pillows (via House of Pemberley). We found the nailhead upholstered bench at HomeGoods. (They also had them in a neutral gray/taupe at a great price.)
I just love the direction this is going:
I’m liking the bamboo sunburst mirror in the mix. Her next move is to replace the ornate chandelier with something a little simpler. Any thoughts?

PS—Christmas is just around the corner. Really, like less than 100 days away. If you own a design-related business and would like to advertise on my blog, it’s a great time to get started. Find more details here :)

Why not spray the chandelier? It seems she is going for an eclectic look. I think that would look awesome. If you have to keep the shades I think go for a barrel shape instead the traditional shades that are on the chandelier now! Just a thought....
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above poster...I like the weight of the chandy, and would spray it too, and replace (or don't use) the shades. Love that mirror!
ReplyDeleteI like the whole color combination of picture number one. Perhaps I am just a fan of great colors coming together.

Love the green and orange together. Those prints are amazing.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! What a score of the prints!! As for a chandelier Artierors makes a nice simplistic one: http://gallery802.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductId=136147
ReplyDeleteIt's going to look amazing! I actually love that chandelier, but I see how it's not in the same vibe. I just spray painted mine at home and LOVE IT. I'm putting color into my dining room as well. We're going with a cinnamon color and metallic olive green on the ceiling. It's risky, I know.
ReplyDeleteI hope Katie threw the money at the sales person and ran like a crazy woman with those paintings!!! OMG, LOVE THEM! THe colors are amazing! I would spray the chandy, too. Maybe bringing out that orange color? Whatever you do, I know it will be perfect! Wow, I'm still loving the art!
ReplyDeleteOooh. Love the bench on the one side of the table. Been wanting to change out my chairs for new ones, but my groom won't go for it. I just may be able to get him to concede to the bench idea, though. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThe colors all work together beautifully and I love how that little boy posed for the photo! :)
ReplyDeleteI would spray that chandelier a white to reduce its visual weight but that's just me, painting everything white in order to save money :)
Those $15 pictures are fantastic! I vote for spraying the chandy too, it could be awesome
ReplyDeleteI really love that chandelier! I say keep it and switch out the shades for something a bit more streamlined to give it a modern feel. It all looks gorgeous and I love the color scheme!
ReplyDeleteIt is going to look great! I actually like the ornate chandelier as it provides tension and contrast to the more contemporary elements =)
ReplyDeleteI love her start! That's a great looking bench and I really like the prints!
ReplyDeleteKEEP THE CHANDELIER!!! It's awesome. And I'm usually not a fan of ornate decor. But if it's the one pop in the room, it works!
ReplyDeleteThe room is off to a great start!
Oh yeah, and DON'T paint the chandelier either!
ReplyDeleteLovely dining room! I agree that a simpler fixture would look good although that may just be a matter of personal taste.
ReplyDeleteHope you'll post pictures when it's finished!
I love the pixs!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the room. The fun splashes of color really pop against the black table and piano. I would go simple with the light fixture since the black is so dramatic...but that is my two cents. :D Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat emerald green is so rich and pretty - I love it!!
ReplyDeleteIt is going to look SO great together! I actually like the chandelier, maybe in a different color with swapped out shades?
ReplyDeleteLooking pretty chic! I would just paint the chandelier. It;s size seems to fit the room and will give it a unique look. Besides it's way cheaper to paint it rather than get a new
ReplyDeleteone :-)
Love the orange/green combo, but I think she'd regret ditching the chandy. I say keep it! Maybe add orange shades to it?

Love that bench! I saw it in the gray at homegoods, but was too slow with my decision making. Missed it! Love watching the evolution of a room.
ReplyDeleteI say leave it as well and I would NOT paint it. I think you should pull the entire room together before doing that. I'd change out the shades to something more modern in shape and/or add a black and white stripe on the shades. keep us updated! Can't wait to see your progress with your house!
ReplyDeleteGreat dining room! I heart that chandelier A LOT and think it looks perfect in the room. Makes for a nice mix!
