Julie was my very first online decorating client when I started blogging and has become a good online buddy. She recently sent me new pictures of her family room. I feel like I’ve known this room since it was a baby, and it’s been fun to watch it change. She originally started with more autumnal colors, but has updated it with a brighter palette since we first worked together. She has a great eye, and I love the mix of patterns she used.
(And, as my disclaimer. . . I had little to nothing to do with this beautiful space. I’m flattered she originally asked for my help almost two years ago, but she has made all of the newer changes on her own and obviously needed very little help from me!)
Enjoy!

I love the colors and the throw pillow arrangements in the room. She did a great job.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I NEED those lamps - love the colors...
ReplyDeleteI love the mix of patterns and colors... fresh, but sophisticated. I needed to see this!! I have such a blend of furniture, black, wood, painted... I love that she incorporated most. It feels 'real'! Love it!
ReplyDeletewould she share where she got the rug? I love her style and want one just like it, but can only find gray.
ReplyDeleteI love what she's done to her room.
ReplyDeleteMy space is layed out like hers.
Corner fireplace, TV stand next to it, a couch perpendicular to the TV, a chair in the corner. I don't have a second couch but seeing the way she has her room layed out has made me realize maybe I could add additional seating.
My favorite element is the mix of patterns in the throw pillows and the turquoise table lamp.
ReplyDeleteWow..the colors are amazing. What an inspiring room!

ReplyDelete4, FOUR, Chiang Mai pillows! What a great room.
ReplyDeleteDo you know the wall color and where she found the rug?
ReplyDeleteEmily I love this living room. I am getting ready to buy living room furniture for our newly purchased house. Can you recommend a good couch like these that are classic and will last. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very beautiful and chic room! Love those pretty pillows and rug.

Wow, that is a gorgeous room...so warm and inviting. Def has the EAC touch
ReplyDeleteOoh, love the colors! I have the same chiang mai pillows on a caramel leather couch and similar color choices in accent colors. I'm contemplating adding a cowhide rug under the coffee table/couch area which tends to get more foot traffic. I already have off white carpeting in the room, but that area always seems prone to getting dingy because of repeat foot traffic.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought the cowhide design might make the area look too busy, but I have fewer patterned pillows than your friend does so perhaps it might work after all. Especially if I select a hide with a more subtle overall pattern on a lighter background. Thanks for the inspiration, these photos are great.
just lovely!! Is the geometric pillow between the two Chaing Mai pillows brown & white or black & white? I am soooo needing a geometric brown & white fabric and everything im finding is black and white.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. I love the pillows and the turquoise lamp. So striking. And the photography. . . wowza!
ReplyDeleteLove the pillows. So fun to know a room "since it was a baby."
ReplyDeleteStunning room. Love the window treatments and the pillows are fabulous. The touch of orange is wonderful. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDeleteLove the pillow fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteLove how she used color and pattern in the space. Beautiful blue lamps!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! She should be proud of herself!
ReplyDeleteI love her mix of fabrics on the pillows and how she has brought in punches of color with accessories. Great ideas!
ReplyDeletelike the freshness of the room....neutral basics with good pops of color...very updated without being too trendy.
ReplyDeleteI asbolutely adore the blue lamp!
ReplyDeleteThis post makes me feel so much better about the mixture of black and brown furniture. I've been really stressing about that and I see how it looks good together now.

ReplyDeleteEmily---thank you so much for the sweet post. I adore you and your design skills and am constantly inspired by all you create!
ReplyDeleteTo answer some questions, the pillows on the sofa can all be found on etsy by searching(betwixt, chiang mai). I had the middle lumbar pillow made from a David Hicks fabric that can be found here (it is brown):

The rug is by Jill Rosenwald, and is called fallon and can be found here http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/surya-fal/brown/158FAL1000-203.html
The sofas, which are great--very durable and made of high quailty materials are made by vangogh designs http://www.vangoghdesigns.com/index.php?page=product-list&category=4
