The Great American Quilt

Designer Tobi Fairley devoted the entire month of July on her blog to topics centered around all-American design.  I’m honored that she asked me to be a part, and blogged about ways to include quilts in modern decor.

Besides the quilt, check out the brass bed in this photo.  How many times would you have passed it up at a thrift store?  Yet, bright bedding gives it fresh life. . .

Check back tomorrow for a fun giveaway from my sponsor, Bedside Manor.  You can enter for a chance to win a pillowcase that works miracles :)

  2. Love that room! It's nice to see quilts once in a while - my mom has made a couple of beautiful ones and it's a shame to store them away just because they may not be trendy at the moment. :)

  3. I love the brass bedding! I have been searching flea markets and antique shops for a king sized headboard and frame similar to this! Haven't found it yet, but still looking! I love the quilt too!! Beautiful room!

  4. I JUST bought a pretty (and cheap! $5 at Homegoods!) towel bar to display a quilt in my new office!

My parents had a brass bed, I hated it as a kid, but I think they are totally growing on me!

  6. A little less traditional than a regular quilt, but I have a tshirt quilt in my room that my mom made from old sorority tshirts. It adds a pop of color and a nice personal touch!

  7. I love that room!! I am kicking myself for throwing out a brass bed about two years ago. My mom had it since the 80's and at the time I thought it was atrocious and had to go. Who would have thought it would be a look I love again?! It's crazy how design trends come and go and come again! I specifically love this look with the quilt, it's so serene and comfy looking.

  8. I like the lily over the prints, and the cushions on the chairs, best for welcoming. Polish and finishing is attractive. Your blog is best for getting new ideas.
