This post is mainly for my local readers, but I just wanted to let you know about a great program I recently started using. Your Neighborhood Produce lets you pre-order a basket of fresh fruits and vegetables from local growers, at less than half the cost you would pay at the grocery store.
I ordered the big basket for $21.50, which gives you 40-50 produce items. And, I have to say there's something fun about going to pick up your loot in a big basket :)
They are offering several pick-up locations in Charlotte and surrounding counties, as well as two locations in SC. And, there's a referral program where you can earn free baskets (ahemmm.. . .).
If you're in the Charlotte or surrounding area, check it out here.
And, just for fun, here's a picture I snapped with my phone of some flowers we saw while we were out running errands earlier today. Wouldn't these colors make for a happy room?
Have a great weekend,

Thanks for the heads up! I just looked it up and they have a pick-up location only about a mile from here. We have tons of farmers markets but they tend to be open in the late afternoon when my youngest is sleeping. Now if you can just find me a really fantastic flea market....
ReplyDeleteEmily- The colors of the veggies and flowers are so eye-popping! Cook some delicious meals!

Here in AZ we have Bountiful Baskets...it's pretty much the same thing. I absolutely love it! It's so exciting to go see what you're going to get each week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous picture..the colors just pop off the screen. Love it!
ReplyDeleteBananas and oranges from local growers? :) ha ha! But no - I love the idea of buying local produce. We have a cute little market in Lewisville (just outside W-S) that gets local produce and also sells crafts, and it just seems so much more fun to get food from there. Plus they have cake pops. Anyway, rock on, local produce girl!!
ReplyDeleteJules--you can find more info on where they get everything on their site:

Sorry to cause any confusion for you :)
Love the zinnias. They just make me smile. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this! I have been looking for something like this, since some of our family lives out West and they get Bountiful Baskets. I don't have to be jealous of them anymore! :) Hope you are doing well!
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great idea and so affordable! I love Zinnia's, they are so easy and carefree.
ReplyDeleteI totally need to do this ... there is something like this in Raleigh too! So fresh!
ReplyDeleteWe use something similar in our area, and I love how local produce is "coming back". When we order, we never know what we are going to get, so it's always like a christmas package left on our doorstep. : )
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat picture just shows the array of goods you can get locally - no matter where you are! the colours are always better and the fruit / veggies always tastier. WE had our first Ontario strawberries tonight for dessert and couldn't get over how tasty they were. Will be going to the farmer's market next weekend for some more local goods!
ReplyDeleteGreat to know! Thanks Emily!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! We went to a co-op farm Friday too! http://noodleandboof.blogspot.com/2011/06/fresh.html
ReplyDeleteI just started participating with Bountiful Baskets in TX. It's only been a couple of weeks, but I love not knowing exactly what I'll get each week. Your basket looks yummy.
