Although I haven't posted many details lately, I've been up to my eyeballs in projects for online clients. Hopefully, I'll have alot of great "before and afters" to share with you in the near future. I wanted to go ahead and give you a peek of an idea board I recently wrapped up for Camille's living room.
I have to admit, when I first saw the photos she sent, I was already kind of in love with her room. There is something very eclectic and relaxed that I really like about her style.
Like most of us who like to decorate, we're always tweaking our own spaces, and she just needed a fresh pair of eyes and some new ideas. This is what I came up with:
She was already considering painting the walls white, which I thought would make the room even more fresh.
Since her curtains are white and we are using some black accents, I also suggested she add a black ribbon trim on each of the white panels to create a look similar to this (without the valance):

Camille went right to work as soon as she received her plan and has already begun making updates. Fortunately, she has her own blog and will be sharing her progress along the way. To see what she's done so far, head over to The Vintique Object.

(The easiest way to dress up a plain mirror. Check out my MirrorMate project here.)

Oh, how funny....I follow Camille's blog and I love her sense of style!! She has a good eye and can't wait to see the final updates!! I can only imagine you two make a great team!!
ReplyDeletei like your sense of style. very nice!
ReplyDeleteI SO want to whitewash my fireplace like that. Also...love the black ribbon trim on the curtains. A little detail that delivers a huge punch!
ReplyDeleteI love the look that you came up with. Especially the white bamboo chairs with the avocado green cushions! And the black trim on the curtains - seems like a very easy way of adding a custom look to the drapes.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting. Love the direction you are going with the contrast of black and white and the punches of green and blue! Will definitely be following her blog now to see what she's up to!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the black ribbon trim on the curtains! Good call!
ReplyDeleteI just hopped over and took at look at her curtains. Wow. The black trim has such an impact. They looked great.

ReplyDeleteI just saw your house featured on Apartment Therapy the other day too!! Thats awesome!!!! So excited for you!
Great ideas! All around!
ReplyDeleteHi Emily -- hope you don't mind me putting your pretty face front and center on the blog! I LOVE the inspiration picture you posted here -- it really helps me to see what you have envisioned for the green on the bamboo chairs and the black be-ribboned curtains!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for your brilliant design!
Love your ideas for the room. And the black trim on the curtains is genius! What a difference it makes.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and this design plan. Have you ever used Decorators White? My builder used it on all of our cabinets and trim, and I really am not a fan. It is very gray. I like Cloud White soooo much more. If she does use it, I hope it turns out well, and can't wait to see it
ReplyDeleteLove your suggestions...can't wait to see it finished!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about her room looking great to start with - but I love your ideas on how to freshen it up. Love the curtain ribbon and white on the fireplace! Can't wait to see the finished product. I love your blog by the way- It's a favorite!
ReplyDeleteLots of good suggestions, Emily! I can't wait to see the rest of her updates!
