I came across this image last week while doing a search for images of bookcases. I saw tons of old crates at the flea market earlier this year and would love to replicate this idea.

Even without the casters, they would make a great storage piece and bring some nice texture into a room. Can't you just see a whole wall of these?
Hope you're having a great weekend,

Emily absolutely, I would probably spray them white for a different look...regardless they are great!

The unpainted crates for bookcases are perfect for those seeking a more rustic look. It can look very modern if it was given a bright colored paint treatment.
ReplyDeleteEither way, it's a great idea, I would never have thought of that!

I like the unpainted rustic look so much! The casters totally make that piece!
ReplyDeleteI saw those years ago in Country Home or was it Country Living?? Anyway, they had done a whole wall of them and it looked great! Love these.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! We use old wine crates atop our bookshelves to hold magazines, drawings, games etc! I put felt discs underneath, so they don't scratch the surface and are easier to move!
ReplyDeleteYours looks so pretty! Instant country charm!
I just saw something similar in House and Home magazine in a kids room. Love it! Maybe it's the next "thing"!!

Wow- a whole wall of these crates would be amazing. What a creative, rustic and chic way to display things. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteI love the unpainted crates. When my brother was in college and sharing a house with a group of guys they created shelves from crates for all of their text books. It covered an entire wall and actually looked amazing. (I never asked where they got that quantity of crates, I probably don't want to know!)
ReplyDeleteYES! Ive seen those around too and have them pinned!
ReplyDeleteI love these! Very simple and elegant in a way.

Hi Emily! I was able to score three crates already nailed together, and then my dad helped me add casters for my son's room! Love the image you found!
