Shopping at Scott's

Although I spent the majority of my weekend watching basketball, I was able to work in a trip to Scott Antique Market in Atlanta.  Best of all, I had a wonderful tour guide--Sherry of Design Indulgence.  We also got to shop with Ally of From the Right Bank  (she already blogged about her finds here).

I did more looking than buying.  There was so much to see that I became completely overwhelmed and couldn't think of one little thing I wanted to look for.  Of course, I took  pictures of some of the pretty stuff we saw so you can share in the fun. . . .

A picture of Sherry taking a picture of some of the great pillows we found:

As you can see, I could've wasted alot of money on pillows that I didn't need.

A huge table full of vintage book pages, perfect for framing.  There were so many possibilities for some beautiful wall galleries here. . . .

I took a picture of this chest because I'm really wanting to work something with a weathered finish into our family room.  Haven't exactly figured it all out just yet.

There's something so striking about this oversized nude (that's a funny phrase in itself. . . ), but I'm not sure my husband and/or children could handle it in our house.  It wouldn't be worth the comments I would have to hear on a daily basis :)

Loved these lamps (and those cute little metal bamboo tables they're sitting on):

Another great finish.  I'm thinking of seriously beating up our TV stand. . . .

I've been looking for a cool, vintage sign to hang over our pantry doors.  Unfortunately, I think this one translates to say, "Don't think about it. I cost $900."  Yes, $900.  Moving on. . . .

Something else that cost $900, but perhaps a better buy. . . this old shelf.  If I had a huge mudroom (and a bigger budget), I would fill this cool piece with all of our shoes:

I spent entirely too long staring at this fabric and eventually talking myself out of it. . .

So, what did I buy?  A pillow for our sofa and this:

Don't worry, I have a plan.  But, you can only imagine what a treat it was to carry them through the hotel where we were staying. . .  After getting lots of strange looks in the lobby, I rode the elevator up (in silence) with a guy who turned around as he was getting off on his floor and said, "I'm sure whatever you end up doing with it will be great."  Umm, yeah, thanks.  Maybe he reads my blog?

  2. I soooo wish we had something like that where I live! Well, maybe it's a good thing we don't, just for the sake of our bank account. But, I definitely would have bought the metal bamboo table... and, maybe a few pillows :D

Can't wait to see what you have planned!

  13. You and I need to have lunch. I want to know what you are doing with your purchase.........we have something very similar that my husband has been hanging on to (family heirloom) and I can't for the life of me figure out where we can display them. He threatens a prominent display everytime we discuss them. I must come up with a solution before he does!!

  30. Do NOT put that nude in your home. I've found that it's associated with divorces. I've sold at least three homes where they've had similar pictures and they've all been selling due to divorce.

I don't know what it is about that pose, but you were right about husbands and kids not being comfortable with it.

  35. Since my hub is a big time bow hunter, and has recently given me some of his smallish antlers, and free range to do whatever with them, I will be very interested to see what you do with yours! I was thinking of painting mine white, and mounting them on a cute plaque that is painted gray or a bright color...I will check back!

  36. Looks like a great shopping trip. I wish I had something similar around here. I love all of your finds.

  37. I am so bummed that I was out of town for Scott's this weekend! Love that cool piece that you said would go well in a mud room.

The February Scott's market was really awful - it looks like the March market made up for that!
