A Guide to Goodwill

If you've read my blog for a while, you know that I love running through Goodwill to see what treasures I can find.  Some of you have told me that you never find anything.  Believe it or not, there is a method to my madness (at least, somewhat).  Today, on the Wow! Goodwill blog, I'm showing you how I typically do a quick run-through of my local Goodwill store, what I found and what I would do with it.

My latest Goodwill find--a vintage trunk in perfect condition for $15.

  1. Nice, Emily! I llluurrrvvveee me some Goodwill. You know - I typically use most of your tips without really thinking about it. :) And don't forget the clothes - because if you're willing to pick through, you can definitely find some amazing dealios (to quote Michael Scott) there, too.

  3. Awesome advice Emily. I find you have to really focus because often what looked so-so in the store looks great when it's brought home. I recently spotted a sofa for $900 (not $9) and think maybe the thrift stores are on to us!

  5. I once found a drumshade light fixture, brand new all wrapped up for $14.99 at goodwill. It's in my kitchen, over our table, and I love it! Can't wait till the Goodwill down the street is openned up, i'll be checking it often!

  7. What a great post, Emily! I recently discovered our own Goodwill store. I so want to find some ginger jar lamps and make the yellow and black ones you featured.
