Rediscovering Garden Ridge

    

Before yesterday, it had been a while since I had shopped at a Garden Ridge.  I hadn't really considered it as a good resource for modern decor but was pleasantly surprised at what I found during our excusion.  (I realize that Garden Ridge doesn't have locations in every state.  For those of you nowhere close to one, bear with me.  Hopefully, you'll just enjoy shopping along with me . . . )

And, we're off to a good start.  But, how long will it last? 

    

First stop--garden section (it is Garden Ridge, afterall).  These large, weathered pots caught my eye.  I recently saw another blog (and can't remember where) that featured a project involving plain terra cotta pots and textured spray paint.  Did anyone else see that?  I think these could be easily replicated for a fraction of the $80 price tag.

I also liked these outdoor pillows for our patio. . . although I'm not sure of my plan for that area just yet.  They reminded me of some similar ones that West Elm offered last year. 

    

My dad (who asked to not be on the blog, but was denied) had the idea to put a similar arbor over our patio step and grow a climbing flowering vine on it.  My dad is always full of good ($$$) ideas :)

Of course, Garden Ridge carries several items that will never be coming home with me.  (And, a note to the fashion police. . . Before you arrest me, I'm aware this is too much scarf with slicked-back dirty hair.)

    

On to the rugs. . . I was recently at a friends house who had a beautiful gray rug in a trellis pattern that she bought for a whopping $40 from here.  Although I didn't see the same rug, I did find some possibilities for future projects.

I spent a while in the pillow aisles.  Nothing I found was over $20 and they had some great prints:

I bought a couple of these chairs (in red) last season for our deck and am considering buying more.  They're small but sturdy and only $20 each.

    

Did you know they also have pre-cut fabric?  Great for a quick chair recovering project.

    

And, I ended my trip in the mirrors.  I was seriously amazed at some of the prices.  This large, ornate number was $80:

And, I ended up taking this flower mirror home with me.  Not completely sure if it's staying in our house or going to a client but it was too good (and too big) to pass up:
