After a long process, my breakfast area is nearly finished. It's taken forever--not because it's anything elaborate--just because there's no time to do anything. Ever. I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about and probably feel the same.
Anyway, I should have things finished up and the before/after pictures for you next week. Until then, here's a glimpse of our new lantern pendant. I think changing the lighting has been the best thing I've done for this space.
Here's the fixture we started with, and my determined husband who devoted an entire Saturday learning how to change out lighting:
He always gives me this annoyed look when I make him stop to take a picture "for the blog." I know, however, that he secretly likes reading all of the comments when you all brag on him. (Remember this post? He ate up every single comment.) So, if you would be so kind. . . I may end up getting alot more projects done around here.

By the way, you may have noticed in the first picture that I ended up going with a completely different fabric on the windows than I had originally planned. (Yay for remnant bins!)
And, of course, there was this crazy idea I had (that ruffled alot of feathers) to use short curtains on these windows. I'll save the details for the final reveal, but let's just say I went against the majority opinion--and I like it. :)

It is looking gorgeous! I love that lantern so much. If the world of blogging has taught me anything it's the importance of a great light. I noticed the new fabric immediately and said "oooh"! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed to have such an unselfish hubby that will give up his time for a fixture. I think you should keep him!! ha.

ReplyDeleteLoving the lantern! And the curtains too! Okay, I must have missed something. Were you trying to decide on long curtains or short curtains? Let me tell you, I'm putting curtains up in my kitchen by the the breakfast table. Do you think I'm putting up long ones? Heck no. I have three boys and I don't want my pretty fabric destroyed:-)

ReplyDeleteIt's funny because the blog post he wrote I sent to my husband so he could see the similarities and that it's not just me in the world who likes to change things up or likes a fluffy pillow on the couch.
I love the lantern! I actually have the same one for my dining room and I love it every time I walk into the room. You can see it here: http://kcinteriors.wordpress.com/2010/12/29/dinner-party-tablescape/
