Since our mantle is pretty shallow, which makes it hard to decorate, I kept things simple. I started with some pre-lit garland and added some clippings from a holly bush and an evergreen tree.
For height, I added some moss balls on top of some silver candlesticks.
(As you can see, the stockings don't come out until Christmas Eve. Too many little hands pulling them down. . . )
Other small holiday touches. . . .
I used more of the word ornaments (that I blogged about here) on our dining table, and big plastic snowflakes that I found at the dollar store.
I gave my kids free reign over the tree decorating. When I didn't get all of the ornaments out as soon as they wanted them, they got construction paper and scissors and made their own. I kind of love it.

ReplyDeleteWe don't decorate a ton for Christmas, either, so I think your house has a nice amount of holiday spirit. :-)
Love, love, love your Christmas tree! Reminds me of mine, which I'll post about on Thursday prolly. What I love about it is the handmade ornaments from your kids...that is so sweet and wonderful. I do the same and grew up with a tree loaded with I must admit some of the ugliest handmade ornaments by my sister, myself and my brothers, but oddly enough the nicest ones were made by my one brother. He has the most patience you'll ever see in a man...we call him our Angel. Thanks for sharing your lovely home!!!
ReplyDeleteYour house looks amazing! I LOVE the moss balls on your mantle, and looking at the thumb nail of that mirror it looked like it was glowing :) That color is so awesome up against your wall color. I love it all!!!

ReplyDeleteEmily, I love your tree! That's the way a Christmas tree is supposed to look, in my mind. If I have a "decorator tree" at some point, it will be in addition to - and not instead of - the tree with our unique collection of ornaments.
ReplyDeleteHey! Love the snowflakes on the table idea. You are def smarter than me with the whole stocking thing ... mine have felt twice & the stocking holder almost knocked my daughter out! Happy Holidays.
ReplyDeleteEmily . . I LOVE the glass vases and such filled with the ornaments. What are they sitting on? I just love the print under them.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, my favorite part is the a la kiddos ornaments...too precious! Also a big fan of the picture of all the silver on top of that fabulous blue fabric that I am desperately trying to find a place for in my abode! (c:
