Dressed Up for Christmas

Christmas decorating seems to be slow-going around here, but I did add a little holiday to my bookcases:

I picked up several of these metal word ornaments at an after-Christmas sale last year and decided to remove the hangers and spray them white so they would show up better on the shelves.

Our tree has been up for over a week and is still not decorated.  I think I'll just leave it up to the kids. . . .

  3. I love the word ornaments, but I'm just as fascinated by the titles of your books-- I have many of the same ones!

  9. Very nice emily! I'm moving slow with my decorating too! I'm showing my tree tomorrow so maybe that will put me in gear to finish the rest of the house.

  10. Painting the words was a great idea and I love how it adds just enough of the season to the bookcases. I am definitely taking a low key approach to decor this season...enough to make us (kids!) happy without creating too much work for me!

  12. Emily I am a lover of words and letters and this is a great idea, in fact I am saving this for my next year file. Now my mind is spinning again. I have so many thoughts in my brain this time of year, I just love it!!! It is Only the 7th of Dec. you are not late, there is no rush or race, do it when you can enjoy it!!! That is what all this decorating is about, enjoyment. It is one of the gifts we decorating types get to experience!! Enjoy the Process sweet Emily, Merry Christmas to YOU and YOURS

  16. Great idea to spray those. I love the wreath on the outside of the bookcase {you children's photos are sooooo cute}. And less is always more . . even on a tree! :)

  17. Only you would think of spray painting something that is a classic silver, white, AND make it look better! I never would have thought to do that, but I love it.

  21. Lovely -- I love the white against your bookcases!

  22. The white words do stand out now. I like how you hung the wreath there too. It seems like holiday decor is slow going around here too. I think the tree, 2 door wreaths and little touches here and there will suffice:)
