Last week, I found this beautiful piece (at a local consignment boutique) for a client's dining room:
It seems like china cabinets are being used less and less these days in modern dining rooms. Could it be a lack of space or less formal entertaining? Either way, I think the china cabinet is still a classic. Their size lends them to making a big statement in the room (which is why I loved the detailing on the doors of the one above).
And, if you think china cabinets are only for traditional dining rooms, here are some great examples of how they can blend with more modern decor:
Love the idea of painting it an unexpected color.

On a completely unrelated side note. . . .I just realized yesterday (after 10+ months of blogging!) that I've been replying to many of your comments to my posts and some have been going to "no-reply" email addresses. While I've prided myself on trying to respond to each question you leave, it seems you might have thought I've been kindly ignoring you. Just thought I would throw that disclaimer out there. My apologies. I'll try to respond by leaving a comment on the post later in the day if there are questions from here on out. (Or, you can always email me directly.)
Happy holiday weekend!
