1. Finally my crepe myrtle has started to bloom. I was starting to think something was wrong with it, but maybe it was just a late bloomer, after all.
2. I'm headed to Wal-Mart to pick this up today. It's a steal on clearance right now. And, I love that they will ship almost anything on their website to your nearest store for free.
3. It's official. "The Countdown" has officially begun in our house. I'm starting to feel a little panicked.
4. Have you seen last night's Design Star yet? Courtland, what were you thinking? What does this crazy orange wall have to do with anything? And, why, oh why, must we keep designing rooms around these inspiration items? "Inspiration is everywhere," I get it. But, I can never recall a time when a client asked me to design a room around the salad she had for lunch last week. . .
5. Have you entered the giveaway for a 5x7 FLOR rug of your choice yet? The winner will be announced Saturday.

Yikes! School around here starts this Wed.! And I agree, those inspiration challenges on Design Star are so lame.
ReplyDeleteI have a kindergartener starting this year too! Exciting, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteDesign Star has lost me this season. I HATE the whole theme thing. So stupid.
Emily I totally agree, it just makes you wonder...with so many great designers out there!!
ReplyDeleteI have a New Giveaway on my site!

Emily, I completely agree. I watched design star too and am so tired of Cortland's 'textured' walls. It's hard enough to design the DR's w/o having to have to design around what you ate for brunch.
ReplyDeleteThat orange wall and the stuff on it was so weird and out of place!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday! I dread when my babe heads to school! So sad! I LOVE that ottoman, it is so cool!
ReplyDeleteLuvs!
I'm a little disappointed with Design Star...maybe I hyped it up too much in my head. I got lucky and our crepe myrtle bloomed twice this year! I was pretty excited!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday! xo Jade
Design Star...where are you and why have you left this totally "lame" show in it's place. It is a "hot mess" this season, and almost not watchable. But there I am, thinking that they are saving the best for last, but I fear that I am wrong. And Vern....who knew he could be so darn mean?

I am not ready for school to start, I like the pace of having the kids around! And yes, I could see nothing but disappointment in Courtland's future as he painted that canvas...too bad because the light fixtures were brilliant!

Oh my gosh, AMEN sister to the Design Star plot this year to base everything on "inspiration items"...it's just strange and it doesn't exactly bring out the creativity in their designers. I'm bummed that Courtland went home, even if he did paint that wall an atrocious color! (c: GOOD LUCK with kindergarten!
ReplyDeleteI don't get Design Star here in Canada but I have to agree that orange wall just looks weird. And you are so right about "inspiration". Usually I use practical inspiration - like they have four young children and pets - not what they had for lunch LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteoooohh that ottoman is great! It sounds like you had quite an adventure while there! And... about design star, totally agree...it really is just plain hilarious and unrealistic!
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched design star, but keep hearing this season is awful? My little one started back to school today - eek :) I'm still in shock his school starts so soon
ReplyDeleteI still remember my son's first day of kindergarten...so exciting and sweet!
ReplyDeleteThank god I do not watch the show...the room is a train wreck!
I have a late blooming Crape Myrtle and I love it...pretty when everything else is starting to look a bit sad!
Love your kindergarten countdown--too sweet! And how awesome is the WalMart piece? Love it, wouldn't have expected it!
ReplyDeleteYour crepe myrtle is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am SO tempted to buy this ottoman too! SO TEMPTED. $50 is such a steal.
ReplyDeleteWe're doing the kindergarten countdown too! My twins start Sept 7th. And I'm a wreck!
