Since breaking up our dining set earlier this year and pairing these old/"new" chairs with our dining table, I've been pondering using a dining bench on one side of the table. I think I found it. Remember that clearance-priced ottoman I ordered a couple of weeks ago? I thought it might be a little large, but it just happens to fit perfectly under the table.
And, while I do like the zebra print, there's a tiger living in the attached room in the form of a rug. So, I'm pretty sure the ottoman is going to get recovered in this:
I love the way these fabrics look together, and they work well with the botanicals I've already used in the room (but have yet to show you). Next step: painting the room a rich brown (sent to me to try by my friends at Dutch Boy Paints). I'll be sharing my transformation with you along the way.

I looked at that ottoman to reupholster, too! I think it will look spectacular in the fabric you picked. Love it with that blue lattice!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love those fabrics together! It's going to look wonderful, Emily!! Blue and Chartreuse - yummy!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I like the zebra print, I think your fabric choice is fantastic! I can't wait to see it with the chairs!
ReplyDeleteI do like the zebra print, but you don't want your home to look like a petting zoo ;-) The bench idea is a great one!
ReplyDeleteGreat ottoman!
ReplyDeleteooh fun!! LOVE those fabrics!
ReplyDeleteThose are going to look fabulous together. It will also make it much easier to move that bench around if you need extra seating soemwhere else in the house.
ReplyDeleteIm a sucker for black and white anything.

I recovered that some ottoman in my living room and I love it--it is rather sturdy for the price! I think your fabric choices are wonderful, and I can't wait to see the botanicals!!!!!

I like the zebra print, but the splash of another color in your dining room is going to look great. Love the fabric you chose.
ReplyDeleteThe ottoman will be wonderful reupholstered in your fabric choice! Love the look of the bench placed at the table...Janell
ReplyDeleteLove all of your fabrics and I can't wait to see the room all redone. Great bench and it look wonderful with the table. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteFab fabrics, Emily!
ReplyDeleteLoving the bench! Can't wait to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of that ottoman! It looks GREAT!
ReplyDeleteEmily, I love the look you're going for. That fabric is so fresh & pretty. You were so lucky to get that bench. I saw it & would love to have gotten it, but had no where to put it. I tried to get an online client to get it, but of course, it was already sold out! Great find!
ReplyDeleteLove the bench at the table...it opens everything up, and the green fabric is going to look great on there. Can't wait to see the rest of the transformation!
ReplyDeleteI bet it's going to look great!Love the blue and citron green!!!
ReplyDeleteI love both of those fabrics! Your bench in going to look great!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you want advice on fabrics only or also the chair v. bench debate. I love the fabrics- beautiful. As for the bench, I don't want to sit on a bench at a dining room table. It's awkward in a skirt, and they aren't comfy b/c you can't lean back! I like how they look, but I'd much rather sit in a chair. Take my two cents with a grain of salt...:)
ReplyDeleteSince you ask for comments, here's my two cents, too. I agree about preferring a chair to a bench, but it would work out well for extra seating when you have the table leaf in (it looks like it opens up for one). Plus, hate to say it, but I really like the black and white print with the table's black legs. Maybe rub a little black on the bench legs, too. I love the green print and would possibly rather see it on the chairs.
ReplyDeleteLove the bench at a DR table. It really breaks up all the chairs and has a un-matchy [is that a word?] look to it.
ReplyDeleteLove the fresh colors! As usual it will be awesome.
I love a bench paired with a dining table. It seems to make the area more casual. I love your fabric choice.
ReplyDeleteThat ottoman looks great at the table and how perfect is that fabric! I recently recovered some cane back dining chairs in the same fabric as your chairs (but the green) and didn't bother to paint the woodwork white. Kind-of wishing I had now I've seen how gorgeous yours look but it's too late as I sold them.
ReplyDeleteLooking forwaard to seeing the brown paintwork!
