My Style in One Picture

So, Ally from the lovely blog From the Right Bank is challenging readers to post one picture that sums up their design style.  I had originally thought about skipping this challenge just because I like a little bit of everything and thought it might be impossible to find one picture that says "me."

However, after going through some of my inspiration photos, I kept coming back to this one:

It's Ryan Brown's house (from Bravo's Flipping Out) and was featured in the LA Times.  I did an earlier post about his home here.

A few reasons I chose this room:

~A neutral color palette with strong black accents and subtle pops of color
~A beautiful gallery wall (love those architectural prints)
~Great layering of patterns (and how I would love to have imperial trellis curtains--still!)
~A pair of matching chairs
~That light fixture! What a stunning centerpiece for the room.
~Open floor plan with a step up to the next room

And, last but not least. . . .
~A big, potted orchid (the perfect finishing touch!)

The only problem I see: having to tell that kid 84 times/day not to touch that fruit or those books on my perfectly styled coffee table :)

On another note, today is the last day to enter my giveaway for a CSN gift certificate.  To enter, go here and leave a comment.  You can blog, post to Facebook or Tweet about the give away for extra entries.  Winner announced Saturday morning!

  2. I love your choice! It's so cozy. I have to think about this one because my styles go from one end of the spectrum to the next. So difficult to pick just one!

  6. Oh yes, my jaw dropped when his home was shown on the show, I tried to get my TV into slow mode so I could take in each and every detail! I saw this challenge and really don't know if I could post just one picture...

  7. Hmmm...I don't know if I could do it - pick one picture that perfectly describes my style. Sometimes I feel really schizo about what I find to be the "perfect" design.
DO love the room you picked - a strong, elegant approach!
