Guest Blogger: Lakeitha from Home to Three Duncan Boys

My final guest blogger for the week is Lakeitha from Home to Three Duncan Boys.  Besides reading about her great DIY projects, I love her honesty and humor when it comes to tackling the trials of motherhood. . . .

When Emily asked me to be her guest, I was thrilled! She is one of my favorite bloggers and I'm sure you guys feel the same!

Today I'm here to talk about my favorite room. It's funny because my favorite room is not really a room, but more like a space that I took possession of! It was an unused closet in my boys playroom! With little space in our house, I decided to put my computer in the closet and call it "My Space". The problem: it was uninspiring and too much like a closet!

So what did I do? I turned it into a space that was just for me! All girl (no boys allowed) and fun!

With a color palette of Brown, pink, green, and white, I was able to turn that same space into this:

Now, the space is a reflection of me! With a house that's full of the opposite sex, its nice to be able to have one "room" that I can call my own. The funniest part of the process was when I told my husband what I was doing, and his response was "yeah, okay. I don't know how that's going to work out". I wasn't sure either, but what I've realized is that you should never underestimate a DIY'er. Especially one who blogs and have their followers cheering them on!

Here is the link to learn more about the transformation of this space! And thanks again, Emily for allowing me fill in while you're away! Have fun on your vacation and make sure to take plenty of pictures!

  2. Great use of space! I will always regret not buying the parsons knock off desk on overstock when I had the chance.

  3. Lakeitha, I love how you took a space (a closet of all places!!) and turned it into your own little hideout! I usually use my closet to hide from the kids...smile.

  7. Great job, Lakeitha! It's so important to have a space that's all yours -- even if it's just a closet. {Though that's one amazing looking closet...}

    Oh, and I saw on twitter about your 12hr drive home?! With the kids. Girl I'll take going to IKEA with mine any day over riding in a car with them for 12 hours!!! My kids aren't patient enough to go up the street to the park!
