Regardless of whether you actually use the umbrellas, the stands can be a good way to jazz up an entry way. Almost like jewelry for your front door:

This is one of my favorites that can be created by turning a ceramic garden stool upside down. And, these are now popping up at places like Ross and TJMaxx for $20-$30:

I'm thinking of a brass one for our entry. I recently spotted one similar to this at a consignment shop for $12 and was feeling indecisive. I went back to get it and it was gone. Ugh!
Also really like this one:
So, I'll keep shopping for now. Next, I'm going to need some pretty umbrellas. . .

They are all so different in style and yet, I love a couple of them. I rarely use an umbrella either, but I adore the one on the last picture. So intricate. A true conversation piece, don't you think? Great post, as always.
ReplyDeletei love the idea of the garden stool turned upside down--i don't know how i missed that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to turn a garden stool upside down! Also liking the owl, with all the rain in Oregon you'd think I'd have one of these!

I love this post. I need one. I love the garden stool idea!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon your fabulous blog. Such beautiful and fun design projects. I'll definitely be following for a long time to come. Love the umbrella stands.
ReplyDeletei love the upside down garden stool too! why didn't i think of that?
ReplyDeleteLove the brass! I also really like the Ashley Whittacker bamboo one but I can't imagine it does a good job of keeping the surrounding floors dry from the wet umbrella. ALSO I love these but I have one of the short, travel-sized umbrellas from J.Crew and you need the cool, long ones for this to be practical. Ok. Those are my thoughts! Haha - definitely go with brass.

ReplyDeleteInteresting post!
ReplyDeleteI use a huge solid brass cartrige case from a combat vehicle rocket. My BIL used to be a career officer and I got it from him. It weighs a ton and takes forever to polish, but it looks very cool.
It's pouring buckets in Boston, so my umbrella and Wellies re getting a workout! Our umbrellas are the short, fold-up kind. I plan on spray-painting and sealing an old trash can to serve as an umbrella stand, since it's low and wide. Just need to settle on a color!
ReplyDeleteI've been using my umbrella for what seems like everyday for the last month. I would really like to put mine away in one of these lovely stands and never take it out again :)
ReplyDeletethey're definitely a perfect accessory..I love the monogrammed one the most. thanks Emily for the wonderful comment at the blog. It's a start...trying to learn how to draw interior spaces :)
ReplyDeleteHere in Vancouver where it rains all the time we don't carry umbrellas, just run from the car to the house to wherever we are going :) Love those ideas though!
ReplyDeletelooove rainbrellas! I think these look so chic!
ReplyDeleteI'm crazy about Jenny's (LGN), but not sure my home is as formal as that one looks, you know? Still that it was DIY, is pretty impressive.
