Reader Participation Time: Show me Your Shelves!

I am currently working on making over some bookshelves (that I bought off Craigslist, of course) for our family room.  I'll be sharing them with you soon, but my mind is already racing with ideas of what I want to put on them.  Apparently, your bookshelves can say alot about your design style:

Eclectic

Modern

Traditional

Based on these images, I would say I'm a mix of traditional and eclectic.  Hate clutter but I do love my "stuff."  What about you?

Soooo, now it's your turn.  You know I love to see other people's houses.  Assuming I actually have more than two readers, I plan on posting pictures of your bookshelves one week from this Friday, on Mar. 12th.  So, style 'em and snap 'em and email me your picture by Thursday, the 11th.  Be sure to include your blog (if you have one), and I'll post the link with your photo.

This will be fun, right?

  1. I'm a mix of all three,generally speaking...but awhile ago I decided to edit things down in our small library to mostly books and a collection of antique opera glasses. I love that you showed shelves 3 ways, such a great tool when working with clients!

    p.s. On another note: the purple frenzy is because I'm helping my best friend decorate her place, and she is a purple fanatic! Hah we found the night stands we are going to paint. Can't wait to share the before/afters! I showed her your green console as inspiration and she got so excited! She's new to DIY.

  9. By these definitions I am probably eclectic. The traditional looks too busy for me, and the modern, to bare. Just my personal taste. What a great tool!

  12. Bookshelves are SO much fun to decorate! I just got 2 and am in the process of finding the perfect frames, figures, art, etc. to stagger between my books!
