Bowled Over

I recently found this "fish bowl" and thought it would be a pretty solution to all of the keys and "stuff" that accumulates on our kitchen counter when you walk in. (I may have to give my family a lesson in what is acceptable for the bowl, however, as I found a wet diaper in ours yesterday.  Really?)

If you have a similar "dumping ground" in your house for unsightly odds and ends, a pretty bowl might be the perfect solution. Here are some other options (all from Overstock) that you might like:

On another note, thanks to Dayka at Life & Style for showing off my latest Craigslist find.  She has the before pictures of my bookcases on her blog.  A litte more work, and I'll be ready to share the after pictures with you.

  1. Ooh, love them. I have the bowl 4th one done. Pretty funny you found a wet diaper in yours but if it were my house that wouldn't surprise me!

  2. What a great idea! I love the 2nd one, but of course I am a sucker for anything green. Have a great weekend! (I'm sure your husband will with the Wildcats playing tomorrow night!).

  4. New reader, but I love you already!

There is just something about a bowl that always makes me happy! I don't always have a place or a purpose but I always find myself drawn to them... especially when they are on sale!!

  7. Cute! And I can totally see my hubby using a bowl as a great excuse to leave all sorts of weird stuff in it (candy wrappers, old receipts...he's definitely a paper hoarder!). And I love that blue and white bowl....great pattern.

    Have a great weekend, Emily!

  11. Oh, I'm sorry, was my husband over to your house? That's the only possible way you could have had a wet diaper in that bowl! Yup, totally possible at my house too.

I do love your bowl! Now, I'm looking for one for my home!

    Have a great weekend...

  13. The fish bowl looks great. And I also like the white one with green plants. I've got a similar one, but in terracotta. A great big bowl to put all kinds of stuff in is very handy.

  14. It is amazing that a pretty bowl can make junk look so much better. We have pretty bowls all over the place since the "junk" piles up everywhere!

  16. I definitely do this! It's so great to just throw random stuff that you don't want to misplace. I also use little plates that have raised edges (platters?).
