It's a two-for-one Friday as we come to the end of Beautiful Blogger Bedrooms! I hope you've loved seeing these as much as I have. First up is Erin from the popular House of Turquoise blog. She blogs about all things blue and was mentioned in the current House Beautiful (how exciting is that?!). She describes her fun, eclectic mix of bedding below:
People might be surprised I don't have more turquoise in my room! The rest of my apartment is really "girly", very pink and turquoise...so I wanted the bedroom to use some of my other favorite colors. The sheets are turquoise though! I love it because it's very cheerful. The mix of bright colors and fun patterns makes me happy! Mixing and matching is the best!
As for the stuff you can see...the blue braided duvet cover is from Pottery Barn. I loved the colors and print on it (and it was only like $20 on clearance...can't beat that!) I've had the Marimekko Unikko shams and (totally wrinkled) duvet cover for years and have yet to get tired of it. I just love that pattern so much! I loved the colors and texture of the throw pillow (from Kohls). Oh and there's a cute little ceramic bird dish on the nightstand that's one of my favorite things ever from Anthropologie. I got that on clearance for less than 2 bucks! The nightstands were my dad's growing up, and the headboard was thrown together with some wood and fabric.
Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of this fun series!
And, last but certainly not least, is Marianne from Haven and Home. Her blog is one of my favorite reads as it not only shows her wonderful design talent but her heart. She's one of those people you just know you would like if you ever met her! Here's current pics of her bedroom and her words:
My bedroom is defintiely a work in progress. I love the feel of it, but I am wanting to update some things. First, I am lover of all white bedding. The bedding came from all different places but I am going to get a "real" bed skirt one of these days. The light is from Market and the headboard is West Elm, I am such a fan of upholstered headboards. The room was originally almost white with gray trim which I loved, but then I decided I wanted more of a cozy feel so I went with Raccoon Hollow from Benjamin Moore. The rug was a gift from my Dad layered over a West Elm jute jug and the piece at the end of the bed is an old crab trap. On the windows I went with white burlap curtains and then natural roman shades from Target. I love the look of layered windows- panels and shades. The crystal lamps were my Grandmothers, I changed out the shades and the bases and the side tables were made by a local welder.
I included a picture of the side, this is not finished by any means. The chair was from my parents house, it is originally from the Governor's mansion in Tennessee, and I really like that it has a story. However, I still have not had it reupholstered and I am currently thinking about moving one of these chairs (below) from the living room into the bedroom. The dresser is from my bedroom growing up and I honestly can't wait for the day I have a new one, but unfortunately that day is very far away. I do think I am going to darken them more though, maybe a navy?
So that is the bedroom now but it may be changing very soon. There are so many things I want to do but my house is the last house to get my attention....
Thanks, Marianne! I completely understand. (BTW, how cool is that crab trap at the end of her bed? Wonder if you can buy those on Ebay. . . )
What a fun week! Many thanks to all who participated. Have a great weekend!

This has been a great series of posts! I am so happy to know that I am not the only decorator who's home isn't 'finished'. It's great to see real spaces of people who's blogs I admire! Also, I love the new header!!! It looks fantastic :)

I loooove mixed bedding and have been working on the perfect combination for my own...trying to do all tans, beiges, creams, etc. It makes it so much easier to add as you go instead of having a set
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post, and what a great fabric headboard!
ReplyDeleteI love both these blogs and both bedrooms! The crab trap is awesome, love that its at the end of the bed as a bench type thing- very fun!
ReplyDeleteI loved this feature! It would be fun to continue it on every once in awhile with bathrooms, kitchens, and maybe even outdoor spaces.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing.
Both of those rooms are absolutely stunning. Love the chandelier! I would die to get rid of our ceiling fan fixture and put one up in our bedroom but the hubs would have a fit. Le sigh.
