So first, a little introduction. . . . I'm not sure when my love of design began but it just won't seem to go away :) Before baby #1 came along, I worked for Ethan Allen Interiors as a design consultant. It was a great job that consisted of meeting clients in-store and going to their homes to help them through the entire design process. Because Ethan Allen's product ranges from modern to very traditional, I was able to design many different kinds of rooms. Although a wonderful experience, I assumed the full-time job of "mommy" in 2004. Five years and three kids later, I am ready to once again jump back into the wonderful world of design. . . .
As I start my home stylist business, I am also in the midst of decorating our home. We moved into our new, builder-beige house about a year ago. I have spent the last 12 months feverishly shopping on Craigslist for our furniture. (A later post to follow highlighting my Craigslist finds!) Although I wouldn't mark one single room as "DONE!", I will invite you into our living room.

The navy wall (Benjamin Moore Evening Sky) was a recent addition. My three-year-old quickly informed me that she didn't like it because it looked black. I, however, am a fan of the dark wall. I have been on a navy kick, as of late. I think it started with the navy chain rug from Pottery Barn. I have had my eye on it since it was in the "regular" store and then after it moved to the outlet. One email advertising a 25% off rug sale and I was off to the outlet the next day! My first design tip: I hardly ever (actually, I would say never) pay full price for name brand anything. If you are willing to look, and sometimes wait, you can always find a better price or a great knock off.
